I had an idea for a show for the local cable, emailed them about and they really liked it. Then they asked me to come in to meet with them.
Day to day, I dress for working (ripped jeans, paint covered shirts) so I dont have much of a work wardrobe.
I haven't been in an office in 4 years, I dont know what people are wearing.
Plus, I've got chubbier in that time, so I'm super self conscious.
I am booked for a hair cut this week, but dont know what to ask for.
My friend said wear a blazer, I have one, but what do I pair it with?
Plus, I'm likely to not need it much again, so I dont want to buy too much.

I am 5'10", thicc and very hourglass, deadly straight dark blond hair to mid back.
Pale , but blush so easily. Grey eyes.
I look better in smokey/creamy versions of colours.

I have no idea where to start, and I dont know what to focus on.
Help please!

Should say, if it goes ahead, I would be hosting the show, as it is on location, so they will be judging how I look, along with my idea for the show

Smart jeans & version of what you look good in but smarter? Or midi dress?

northerngirl2012 · 29/10/2019 09:44

And nice coat?

Without giving your idea away can you say more about what you’re pitching? It might be that a paint spattered shirt is spot on.

Otherwise I’d go blazer, Chelsea boots, white cotton shirt/grey t shirt, grey/black jeans.

I am a beachcomber artist, and the series would be profiling the different beaches, what you can find where, fossil beach, driftwood beach, seaglass, etc

These are some great ideas, and I have most bits suggested so far

Rather than think about what someone might wear to an important business meeting, think about what you might wear on the show. They like your idea on paper and now they want to meet you to bring it to life - assuming you're not trying to redo the apprentice wear something that suits your topic.
Is there a similar show on TV already? Have a look at what those presenters are wearing

I think the blazer/jeans look works.

Can I make a suggestion based purely on my watching of the Apprentice so feel free to ignore. Take the gear you need to pitch in an appropriate sized container/portfolio. With the items you need like pens in a container/pencil case. The contestants always turn up loaded down with crap slipping about in their arms/ rolling about and dragging behind and I always think it looks unprofessional and disorganised.

NorthEndGal · 29/10/2019 10:20

I think you are both right , and you given me a lot of good ideas.
I need to make sure I look the part, not too fancy, or scruffy, and be organized.
I think blazer, navy blouse, nice dark jeans and a Chelsea boot.
I need to find one of my old leather satchels, so I have something sturdy but nice looking.
It's hard to look professional carrying seashells, driftwood and fossil samples. Smile
I can pick up a tube to carry the map too

When you get the gig will you come back and tell us all about it. It sounds like a terrific programme.
