Hoping for some fabulous finds for upcoming Christmas events.

Have no problem finding jewel like colours but they are never seem to suit hourglass shape! Or hourglass shaped stuff always looks ‘formal’ - which is fab for blacktie/posh events bu not so good for department Christmas do at a smartish pub!

Will be back later to post things I’ve found

Have a look at Lauren by Ralph Lauren, they do some nice one colour stretchy dresses which are perfect for smart pub - often cheaper on zalando.

Thanks Duchess! They look great - some lovely colours and a great style for hourglass

Particularly like this one

I bought this one at weekend & think I'm keeping it. Principles at Debenhams £39.

@brusselsprout5 - that’s a beautiful colour! Does the neckline work well for you as an hourglass? I always look for a v-neck or scoop neck but I guess with a long necklace to make the ‘v’ shape it works well? How do you style it?

What are the events? Fancy pants events? Or drinks after work stuff?

floffel · 29/10/2019 12:57

1 - department do (dinner, drinks, dancing) at naice pub
2 - DP’s Christmas Do - smart bash
3 - other mini Christmas events (friends, family, other work events that generally pop up)

Disclaimer - I dress very lazily at work which has a ‘wear what you like’ policy so usually wear trainers, jeans, t-shirt, fleece. however, I do love to dress up and look knockout at events - just generally day to day can’t be arsed. Have a relatively ok figure, size 12 hourglass and am 5.3

I second the Lauren dresses, they hide any lumps and look great with curves! Try also any Vivienne Westwood, also cut for curves.

floffel · 29/10/2019 13:42

Thanks wink - I’m going to go for it - they are fab colours and lovely shape - figure I can easily dress them up or down depending on the occasion.

Ok - so I have a graduation to go to next month i have this dress already but Have never actually worn it yet.

Any recommendations for a coat to wear with it? I was thinking a black wool one.

Also what tights do I wear if I'm wearing black shoes? Would satin opaques be ok?

Following with interest. Also an hourglass winter jewel. That red dress is gorgeous.

Chillichutney1 · 24/11/2019 10:51

I love this velour wrap top, the green is a bit dark but it looks really good on

Mortigua · 24/11/2019 11:40

Has anyone tried the Lauren by Ralph Lauren dresses ? I’ve just had a look and they are lovely but I’m wondering if they tend to be true to size ?

BraveGoldie · 24/11/2019 11:44

Where is the red dress from? I love it!

floffel · 24/11/2019 14:41

@Chillichutney1 - that one keeps popping up on my John Lewis style edit - am going to order it tomorrow (pay day yay!) - good to know you like it

@BraveGoldie - it’s from Bombshell

What coat and tights with it? I need help :)

That red dress looks very like something that Christina Hendricks would have worn in an early season of 'Mad Men'. And I mean that in a good way!

RidgedPerfection · 24/11/2019 17:22

I am an hourglass and Zoe Vine dresses make me feel brilliant; I also always get some nice comments too. They come in some beautiful jewel colours.

IcedPurple · 24/11/2019 17:24

I love jewel colours but as a cool-toned, fair-skinned blonde - I think I'm a 'light summer' in the classification - unfortunately I don't think they suit me.

floffel · 24/11/2019 17:57

@RidgedPerfection THANK YOU for the Zoe Vine mention- they are just what I’m looking for!!!thank you so much

@flofell you are welcome!

Azura2019 · 26/11/2019 12:23

Whistles have some jewel coloured clothes that suit curves.

professionalnomad · 26/11/2019 12:41

YES LADIES!

This is me to a T!
Excited to see how this thread evolves. I'm an hourglass with dark skin and hair so love wearing bold colours.

floffel · 26/11/2019 14:57

Oooooh for an unlimited budget!!!!!!

I am torn now over which dress to get for my Christmas Do - I normally looked like an aged teenager (t-shirt, trainers, jeans, no make up, hair in ponytail) so want to WOW ‘wow Floffel is that you?’ :)

Help me choose - which one? Will you help me choose? Will also wear the dress on Christmas Day

I think I might be an hourglass these days. My boobs are huge from breastfeeding! I'll follow with interest for a breastfeeding friendly dress for Christmas 🎄

HowToBeAWoman · 26/11/2019 21:38

@floffel

That purple dress is definitely a WOW dress! Love it.
