What footwear with a pleated midi skirt?

So I'm on the plump side but love a pleated midi skirt! I've just got a satin(y) mustard coloured one which I'll wear with a tucked in black top but what shoes? Can I get away with ankles boots or does the strange gap between the top of the boots and the bottom of the skirt make it a no no? I'd normally wear flats for work but want to dress the look up a bit! Loath to wear 'proper' heels though as daytime drinking and some walking involved!

tights and trainers?

Is it from Tesco? I have a lovely pleated midi silk mustard from there! I wore it with a bottle green jumper, fishnet tights and black ankle bootsZ

Princessfaffalot · 28/10/2019 19:02

Ignore the random Z!

AnyFucker · 28/10/2019 19:03

Brogues

Chunky heeled boots. I wish I could pull the look off but pleats make me look like a bus.

feedmewinenow · 28/10/2019 19:23

@Princessfaffalot it is indeed Tesco's finest Wink ooh the fishnet option is one I hadn't considered! Glad to hear a trusty black ankle boot will go!
Pleats do nothing for me either but I've got to the point where I've decided to start wearing what I like, instead of continually looking like I'm in mourning and hiding in a black smock dress (though I am still partial to them!) The elasticated waist is also a joy and if I pull it up high enough and tuck in, there is a smidgen of a waist!

I love tan and mustard together, tan brogues would look good I reckon! Yes to ankle boots too tho!

I’ve got loads of these skirts in all different colours and wear mine with a jumper or t shirt tucked in and trainers. Boots would look fine I think but I love wearing my trainers with skirts and dresses. So effortlessly comfortable and stylish.

chasingseagulls · 29/10/2019 08:01

With ankle boots, I think the length of the skirt and the gap of leg between hem and top of boot is key and difficult to say without an image. Nothing to do with pleats, or height or shoe style, just the right or wrong combination. I recently chose a long length version (rather than the regular length I normally suit) of a pleated skirt in M&S because of this, combined with the ankle boots I wanted to wear most with it

If in doubt, stick to brogues or trainers.

I live in midi skirts! Wearing them with my leather boots at moment wooly cardies

RacheyCat · 29/10/2019 13:34

I wear mine with knee-high boots or leather clogs.

Could somebody please post a picture of this beautiful skirt? I’ve searched and searched and can’t find it.
