I am in the market for new ankle socks. I'm willing to spend a bit more for quality and socks that will last. I want them to be warm, but not especially thick, soft and not scratchy. I also like pretty patterns!

I've seen some at Next online that look nice, but before I commit, does anyone have any actual wearing experience of these or any other recommendations?

Thank you!

Following with interest. I've been bitterly let down by recent sock purchases. Looking at you Sainsbury's and Tesco. I too am happy to pay more but want comfort, cotton and non fall-y down ones!

M&S anklet socks, the super soft ones. I love them! Great with trainers, don't roll down like normal trainer socks and really comfy and soft even after a good few washes.

John Lewis wool & silk ankle socks - I got these for Christmas last year and they are lovely, and no holes or worn bits after wearing them all year. Warm enough to wear on their own on my cold floors and some nice colours and patterns. I love socks and these are my favourites at the moment. Trying a link.

After many years of the eternal quest of trying to find comfy ankle socks that don't slip down my foot when i walk, I have found the M&S supersoft socks in size 3 to 5 (after years of 4 to 7) and they are so very soft, fit really well and are actually perfect! That reminds me I need to buy another 5 pack ...

Gap tube socks are my absolute favourites.

Seasalt socks are my favourites, I like long socks to wear with boots during the winter and these don't slip down.

I have £20 of M&S vouchers. I might try the M&S ones! Thanks everyone!

After decades of endless consumer research into socks for all the family, I conclude that Next do the best socks by far. Certainly in terms of longevity.

nitgel · 28/10/2019 20:40

I always get 5 packs of sicjs from esprit. They last ages. Uniqlo also good

waltzingparrot · 28/10/2019 20:47

TK Maxx always have bamboo socks - they are beautifully luxuriously soft, even after washing. And various coloured/patterned

SunnySomer · 28/10/2019 20:49

Falke Cosywool socks. Definitely pricey but last years and are warm and cosy. Part cashmere, part wool so extremely soft. Best socks I’ve ever had.

Hoppinggreen · 28/10/2019 20:51

I like bamboo ones from Bam
They keep sending me free ones, I’ve no idea why

AnnaNimmity · 28/10/2019 20:52

I have some long men's ones from M&S which are nice. Otherwise, Falke are very lovely. Expensive, but lovely.

TheFaerieQueene · 28/10/2019 20:57

For some reason Bam (bamboo) have sent me 3 pairs of free socks. They are v nice.

SirProjectofThigh · 28/10/2019 21:08

I came on to say Bam Grin

bingohandjob · 28/10/2019 21:10

Ok, these are silly expensive but I picked several pairs up a few years ago for a third of the price and they have been worn heavily and are like new despite being chucked in the wash and giving some serious use - they are the best socks I've ever worn and are so soft and comfy and seem to make every shoe I wear feel comfier. They are some kind of sock witchcraft. They also don't smell of like me for hand luggage it for city breaks and sometimes had to 'recycle' for a few days. Keep your feet warm when cold and cool when warm. www.vulpine.cc/catalog/product/view/id/1715355?click=eyJxdWVyeSI6MTAyNDIsInBhZ2UiOjEsInBhZ2VTaXplIjoxNywicG9zIjo4fQ==
