Dr Martens Chelsea Boots advice please

My feet are a half size. I ordered a pair of DM Flora chelsea boots and they were a bit snug. Sent them back and ordered the next size up.

I really love them but I think I would need to not have my feet slopping about in them.

Do I get the original size and try to break them in, which I had decided against previously?
Would insoles or heel grippers sort out the larger ones? They are better with 2 pairs of socks but still feel a bit loose.

Or should I give up and send them back?

I have the lace up ones, DM Emmeline, in the larger of the two sizes.

The next size up sounds like the best bet to me.
I’ve had these in a 3 for a few years and they don’t really slacken. Luckily my fit was perfect, but i’d Err on going up rather than down if you’re a half size.

They’re the best boots I’ve ever had.

Remained comfy for years and still look so new.
Will definitely re-buy!

I am tempted to swap them for the burgundy ones.
The fit of the emmelines is fine.

I have tried the Floras with insoles and they are ok. Will need to break them in if I'm keeping them.
