Autumn/winter going-out tops: what are you wearing?

I'm feeling uninspired as to what to wear, going out on a cold night. Not clubbing or anything, but a trip to a pub or restaurant etc that involves a walk, bus or train ride, and therefore, contact with cold air. What do you wear?

Silk shirt and very warm coat! If you get cold, a cashmere pullover. I wore a satin blouse at the weekend over jeans. Obviously it is not cold yet, but with a really warm coat and a scarf this usually works for me.

I just bought this blouse from Sezane - m.sezane.com/fr/product/collection-automne/18108-blouse-clothilde?cou_Id=755

I’m planning to wear it to a number of social events this autumn with skinny jeans, leather trousers or a mini with thick tights

@Runner that is one gorgeous blouse. Have you got a nice statement coat to go over it? I've got a few nice shirts etc but am always freezing once leather biker jacket weather is over.

Hi yes I’ve got a couple of nice coats - a navy trench for now and an old Reiss houndstooth wool one when it gets colder. If it’s very cold I have a long wool one that used to be my granny’s.

octopusrus · 09/10/2019 21:08

All saints often do some nice woollen sleeveless tops, haven't actually looked but worth trying.

I'd like to know too OP! It was cold and rainy waiting for public transport last night. Too cold for my leather jacket over my dress/tights/boots outfit. But my only other coat options are my work coat (wool, 3/4 length, quite 'worky') a black trench (not warm enough) or a sort of puffa coat (too casual, normally worn with jeans and jumpers).

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 13/10/2019 08:49

I've got:
Black silk shirt
Black and white print silk blouse
Black thin cotton turtleneck jumper
Wear all of the above with a Jigsaw lace camisole underneath
Quite often brave it out with leather jacket and huge scarf, but also have a fantastic long smart wool cost in shocking pink for when it's really cold.
Or if just going to the pub, I'll wear my parka.

I’ve yet to buy a really good going out top for this year but White Company will be where I look for one - their Autumn/Winter range is great.

Gillybobs · 13/10/2019 14:54

I layer an m&s heat tech vest under my normal going out tops at this time of year, life changing!

Rathkelter · 13/10/2019 16:14

I agree, I think it's all in the coat. Where what you like underneath coat, assuming venue is warm. Uniqlo also do good heattech vests and tops.

I would have been too warm with a heat tech vest under my dress in the restaurant!
