Dresses with pockets or other ways of carrying a phone while wearing vintage style

In my newish job (about 3 months) I've chosen to wear what I think of as slightly vintage-inspired ladylike style: longish, hourglassy dresses or pencil skirts and blouses most of the time, and now it's coming into autumn I've become a fan of cropped, fitted cardigans. I suppose broadly it's anything from the 30s to the 50s that inspires me, but not full-on fancy dress with victory rolls and everything, it's just a nod to it.

But it's just been suggested that as I'm sometimes alone in my workplace, I ought to keep a mobile phone on me, not just in the room, in case I have an accident. (An accident is not all that likely, it's not a very physical job, but it's always possible I suppose.)

I will obviously comply with this request but I was wondering how I can do it without drastically changing my chosen style, which I had already spent a bit of money on (not much as most of my clothes are second-hand) and have been really enjoying.

I've got enough workable alternatives to be going on with (today I am wearing a skirt and a blouse with pockets on the chest) but I'm after other ideas.

Most of my dresses of this particular kind don't have pockets. I'm not very experienced at dressmaking and don't have a reliable sewing machine at home - is putting deep pockets into an existing dress something an alterer might be prepared to do?

Or, if/when I can afford something new, what brands should I be looking out for for vintage-inspired dresses with pockets?

Is there any other great solution I have't thought of?
