Where can I buy a teeny christening gown?

DD will be christened when she's 2.5 months old - she was less than 5lb at birth so will need a particularly small frock. I'm hoping for something classic and very simple.

My aunty may make something for her but if not, I've no idea where I can find one small enough; both Monsoon and John Lewis do christening gowns but only from 3 months.

Recommendations very welcome.

There are lots of specialist christening shops, but in London-are you in or close to London?

HerculesMulligan · 05/10/2019 21:48

Yes! I'm in SW London and can travel.

Have you seen anything online for preemies

All Christening gowns in my experience are massive big long dresses type things. For boys and girls. You won't need a small one. Any gown should fit.

Sorry but cant lin, look at the christening and Occasions website, they have prem clothing and a very simple pretty brodery anglais gown with a matching bonnet for about 25 pounds.

Venus, I've tried her in a couple of family gowns and her hands don't come out of the sleeves. She is really, really tiny.

Don’t buy a tent teeny one. Get someone to add laces (white ribbon looks lovely) to make it smaller. She might have a bigger baby herself or a sibling who isn’t so teeny.

The John Lewis and Debenhams long traditional christening gowns are small fitting. Being silk, there is no give so I would say a 3 month would fit fine. My girl was large but even at 4 months wore a 12 month dress for some room in the material. She had a long traditional John Lewis one

I had the next dress linked above for my DD - it does it in "first size" which is about 6/7lb ish I think. It's also a lovely dress, worth looking at
