Stupid bra question for the larger busted people round here

I need a bra to wear with an outfit that needs to be either strapless or have clear straps. I won't have bear shoulders, but the outfit has a built in fine mesh panel over shoulders so straps would look daft.

I'm quite large up top (40e) and have been looking at the curvy Kate luxe strapless but can't see for all the will in the world how that can stay reliably in place. I think because of the mesh, I could probably get away with a clear strap.

Here's the stupid part - do strapless bras come with the option to attach straps if you want to wear them that way?

And just in case, has anyone on the curvier side got the curvy Kate luxe strapless and can it perform gravitational miracles?

You would probably need a multiway bra and then buy clear straps to attach to it

I'm a 32G & have a black strapless M&S bra.
It gives good support & good cleavage & you can attach straps if necessary.

Not tried curvy Kate.

I've worn my bra under cami tops & strappy dresses.

MrsMaiselsMuff · 29/09/2019 10:47

What dress size are you? Have you been properly fitted (not at M&S)?

dementedpixie · 29/09/2019 10:48

www.figleaves.com/uk/curvy-kate-luxe-strapless-bra/CUR-SG2601.html this shows it with straps too so you could attach clear ones instead

onemouseplace · 29/09/2019 10:50

I've had a couple of Fantasie strapless bras before and they all came with removable straps so you could probably get some clear straps and attach them.

Could you get away with a nude strap underneath the mesh?

SquishyFishy · 29/09/2019 11:14

Thanks @dementedpixie - that answers my question exactly.

@MrsMaiselsMuff yes I have been properly fitted and am usually a triumph person as they are expensive but good quality and comfy. They just do t have anything like this.

@onemouseplace I could possibly get away with the nude strap, but I think with skin colour it will still stand out

the Wonderbra hand ones are really really good, the support is ridiculous. I can't remember the exact name of the product but its strapless and the support is shaped like a hand holding up your boobs from the size. Really good!

I am a 36F (in M&S etc) / 34G (in bravissimo / freya etc).

I bought a freya deco strapless bra which definitely does the job and also comes with straps. However, I find it seriously uncomfortable. It has a plasticky bit inside the back strap, presumably to help it stay up, and after a few hours or walking any sort of distance, it starts to pinch. So I now only wear it when absolutely essential and when going to a short event with no walking involved! Maybe out for drinks or an evening wedding reception.

Is that helpful? Possibly not!

SquishyFishy · 29/09/2019 12:05

That's what I'm worried about - spending a fortune on a bra that's horribly uncomfortable and spends its time heading towards my belly button

It doesn't budge; I'll give it that! It just isn't comfortable for long.

honeyalmondlatte · 29/09/2019 12:16

I'm a 30H and have the curvy Kate luxe. It's not that comfy but it holds well ish. I'd recommend going to bravissimo to with your dress and they will be able to help you.

SeekingShade · 29/09/2019 13:09

This www.bravissimo.com/products/alexa-bra-black-ln553blk/ is nice for wearing under things, it's off the shoulders and it's quite nice to get a lacy glimpse on low backed stuff.

Boobiliboobiliboo · 29/09/2019 13:12

I have a curvy Kate strapless bra and am significantly bigger than you (36J).

It comes with removable straps. You could replace them with others if needed.

I didn’t like the luxe because the seams showed through the fabric of the jumpsuit I was wearing over it. It’s a kind of shell pattern and looked all wrong under jersey fabric. I got the other one which is much better. Can’t remember what it’s called.

SunnivaGunne · 29/09/2019 13:13

I'm a 28G and I have never had a comfortable or reliable strapless bra (I have them from M&S and Rigby & Peller), they always end up as waist belts. I would go with clear straps if I wanted comfort and security.

SquishyFishy · 29/09/2019 15:12

I'd love to @honeyalmondlatte but my nearest bravissimo is over 100 miles away

Ok then any good bra fitting service will do! Debenhams or independent lingerie shops. Just not M&S.
