What jacket would you wear with this dress to a wedding?

If you were wearing the above dress in the blush colour to an October wedding, what jacket would you wear with it?? I cannot picture what would work at all. I'm planning on wearing gold shoes and a gold bag.

I wouldn't wear that to an October wedding. It's not really seasonal. And jackets over lacy dresses rarely work. The only things that wouldn't look twee with it would be leather or denim.

foreverroses · 29/09/2019 00:00

Some sort of duster. Long. Not sure about colour though. It will look more formal with the duster coat on but that’s good if you’re going to the ceremony and then taking coat off for a party afterwards

CheddarCheesy · 29/09/2019 00:06

Can anyone suggest something that would be suitable for an October wedding and maybe has long sleeves so no jacket required?!

How about a rather delicious pashmina shawl

HennyPennyHorror · 29/09/2019 00:38

Do people still wear pashminas? Aren't they really late 90s early 2000s? Are they so past it they've come back!?

SadSongsAndWaltzes · 29/09/2019 00:41

Or this one which is quite similar to your choice but a bit more seasonal (unfortunately more expensive too though):

HennyPennyHorror · 29/09/2019 00:42

That blue one is lovely SadSongs What do you think of that OP?

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 29/09/2019 00:50

I wouldn't wear the first one to a wedding. I don't think Boo Hoo looks great on anyone but happy to be proved wrong! OP have you ordered from them before?

ReturnofSaturn · 29/09/2019 01:03

I wouldn't wear anything from boohoo full stop and certainly not to a wedding. Cheap tat.

HennyPennyHorror · 29/09/2019 01:06

Saturn I hope you feel better about yourself for having posted that. Not everyone has a big budget. You sound ridiculous spouting mean crap like that you know.

CheddarCheesy · 29/09/2019 01:08

I've already got the dress and I think it looks ok - I'm a lot paler and shorter than the model so the see through bit in the middle doesn't look anywhere near as obvious IYSWIM.

Torn between getting another dress and trying to find a jacket that works - anyone got any links to something that might vaguely work?

OP posts:
CheddarCheesy · 29/09/2019 01:09

Thank you HennyPennyHorror. I've bought quite a lot of stuff from Boohoo over the years and as long as you choose carefully it can be ok!

It’s a pretty dress, but too light for a jacket. I’d wear a shawl with it.

I quite like this one; is it weddingy enough?

I really like this one - thoughts?

BentlyandPalmers · 29/09/2019 01:29

I liked the first one! Just wear a pretty cashmere cardigan with it!

HennyPennyHorror · 29/09/2019 01:36

Cheddar I love both of those. I actually found the pink one myself whilst looking for you but didn't post it because I'm in Australia and thought it might not be available in the UK.

The green one is gorgeous too.

CheddarCheesy · 29/09/2019 18:52

Thank you @HennyPennyHorror I've ordered the pink one; just hoping it is dressy enough for a wedding! Do you think white heels would be ok, or would another colour be better?

OP posts:
foreverroses · 29/09/2019 18:59

Yes it’s dressy enough! It’s gorgeous. There’s a lot if detailing you zoom in.

Neutral shoes. Off white like the models if possible. (I always find white shoes a little 80s!)

Lucked · 29/09/2019 19:54

I love that green dress and very versatile so I think you would get lots of wear over winter.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/09/2019 20:02

Don't wear a shawl!

I like the first one - it's pretty.

How formal is the wedding?

palahvah · 29/09/2019 20:57

Is it the pale pink one you've ordered? What kind of temperature are you expecting and how formal is the wedding?

Outsomnia · 29/09/2019 21:02

The mink/pink one with pearl grey and/or silver accessories would be my choice.

This is the one I've ordered - it's at a nice hotel/country club so quite formal I think?

It will probably be in the low teens (Celsius) temperature wise, but will only be outside for photos.
