Anything I can do about terrible highlights?

Please be kind because I’m pretty sensitive right now Grin.

I’ve moved to a new area and went to get my hair done at a place I’ve seen recommended numerous times on social media.

I showed them a pic of what I wanted and they said it wouldn’t be a problem and set about doing my hair. The result is nothing like what I asked for and I look like a fecking zebra 😭. There’s a red toned brown run I g through my hair along with the stripy blond.

Is there anything I can try and do at home to fix or is it a hairdresser job? I refuse to go back to the original hairdresser since they clearly didn’t listen to me the first time so I doubt they would the next....

That’s really bad. Which town/city OP? People might be able to recommend a good salon to get it corrected (with the refund you get from the salon who turned you into a bumble bee).

Oh bless you OP. Thar needs correcting or else stick a semi permanent colour over it. Today!

My friend has sent me the details of her hairdresser so hopefully she can fit me in next week! She always has amazing hair so finger’s crossed she can sort me out.

In the meantime I’m going to dig out my velour juicy couture tracksuits, ugg boots and Chanel Nicole Richie circa 2004.

Some style inspo in the meantime

Seriously though I hope you get a refund and someone else can fix it for you, do come back and show us the improved version. Maybe a pulled back ponytail this week?

EdWinchester · 28/09/2019 16:16

They are terrible! Straight from the early 90s.

I would insist on a full refund tbh.

Backtoschooool · 28/09/2019 16:16

Can you part it on the side and see if it looks any better?

Ticklemeelmo · 28/09/2019 16:23

It looks like they couldn't be arsed to put more than a few packets of foils in your hair which is why it's stripey looking. If I were you I'd ring up and ask to get it fixed by a more senior stylist. If that turns out no better then ask for a refund or partial refund

@boringisasboringdoes thanks for making me laugh! 😂

Oh Gosh you poor thing. I've had a similar experience and I couldn't bring myself to return so I had to go to another hairdressers and get a dark colour put on and paid for that as well!! I wish I'd gone and got my money back now though.

ChloeJaye66 · 28/09/2019 16:56

I’m a hairdressers, I would definitely ring them & say you don’t feel comfortable going back into the salon but you want your money back. If they have a card machine they should be able to do it over the phone, you 100% need to ask for your money back as that isn’t what you asked for at all.
As for fixing it, maybe ask your hairdresser to tone the roots of the highlights down with your natural colour & that’ll make them much more blended!

Bouffalant · 28/09/2019 17:00

I would absolutely post the photos of your hair on their FB page.

No way should they have let you leave like that. Even for highlights (as opposed to balyage) that is shocking, and I would want my money back.

NigesFakeWalkingStick · 28/09/2019 17:21

No advice but I was rocking that look in 2002 I also love your username @GoBackToPartyCity Grin

KellyMarieTunstall2 · 28/09/2019 18:37

This has happened to me OP and I couldn't face going back, so I emailed the salon with my complaint, told them exactly what I'd asked for and sent pics of my hair like a zebra. I got a full refund.
