Where is an amazing navy shirt dress from?

Other amazing shirt dresses also accepted Grin

I saw someone wearing a navy dress, shirt dress shape I think but no buttons, more a long grandad shirt I guess.

It's navy cotton type material, maybe very slightly brushed cotton.

It has a white pattern on it. I don't know how to describe it, almost like a drawn on squiggle. Slightly like paisley in style, but less ordered and more organic. Almost like a really stylish snail trail over the fabric!

If this sounds at all familiar to anyone, please let me know!

Or any other shirt dresses, I think they're my new shape

I don't know but I like the sound of it!

Giving a bump!

OMGshefoundmeout · 25/09/2019 21:49

Whistles do dresses like this most seasons. I have a navy one and a leopard print one.

I have seen similar in COS and Jaeger.

GlitteredAcorns · 26/09/2019 06:35

I was also thinking Whistles. Won't be cotton though...

Legomadx2 · 26/09/2019 06:56

I have a nice one from the Whote Company - baby with white spots. Last season.

Fat Face have one in needlecord this season.

Legomadx2 · 26/09/2019 06:56

Sorry typing so badly. Navy

MoltoAgitato · 26/09/2019 07:08

I had to stop a random in a pub this summer who had the most effortless navy shirt dress. It was from ARKET but a few seasons old.

Owlsintowels · 26/09/2019 08:37

Thanks for idea. The Whistles one looks about the right shape, though possibly slightly more formal and structured than mine

I migjt have to put my big girl pants on and ask the work colleague where she got it from. She's mid 20s whereas I'm knocking on the door of 40 and I didn't want to ask her in case she gets horrified that the middle aged lady at work wants to copy her style Blush

Maybe I'll wear weekly it to our weekly meeting, that'll really upset her!

I've had to steel myself to compliment and ask complete strangers where they got that coat/jacket/top or pair of shoes from.

Every time, the item I coveted was years old or purchased in a foreign country.

One thing though - my queries didn't half cheer the wearers up.

You've got nothing to lose OP, I might bring a smile to your colleagues face.

Gingernaut · 26/09/2019 08:43

It might

Spudlet · 26/09/2019 08:44

It’s happened a couple of times that people have asked me where I got stuff from, and every time it made my day. The age of the person asking was irrelevant! Just ask op Smile

PurpleDaisies · 26/09/2019 08:44

Hopefully she’ll have bought it recently. Please share what you find out!

Soola · 26/09/2019 08:46

This is nice but comes up big. I had to return the 10 and get an 8.

Sooverthemill · 26/09/2019 10:34

I have been asked a couple of times about clothes I was wearing and it made my day each time! Ask her just don't wear it at the same time!

PETRONELLAS · 26/09/2019 11:47

Could it be this? Darker in real life.

from Uniqlo. It's described its purple but it looks navy.

Divebar · 27/09/2019 07:26

Your colleague? A person you actually know? Lol. It wouldn’t even cross my mind not to ask “ I love your dress, where’s it from” You’d have to be a complete bitch to be offended by that. ( if she’s a complete bitch then obviously do not let those words out your mouth).

Owlsintowels · 27/09/2019 16:21

Thanks for that divebar

At explained I don't want to make all the cool young people at work laugh at the middle aged mum trying to copy their fashion

And the woman in question went on leave the day after I spotted her dress and has been away for the last week and all off next week so I hope MN might be a shortcut to finding it

Owlsintowels · 27/09/2019 16:25

Good find from my dodgy description petronella! Not quite the one though, mine has a lot less white. The lines are thinner, really like a single pen line, almost like a henna hand pattern

Once the colleague is back from hols and wears it again I'll ask her if the mood feels right. I've had weekly meetings with her, and seen her around daily for about 6 months and I've never seen it before, so I think they're is a good chance its new.
I might be wrong but she seems a more warehouse type than eg Whistles

OP posts:
Divebar · 27/09/2019 18:55

Aaawww please don’t think like that. I’m sure she would enjoy the compliment irrespective of age.
