Can I wear shorter trousers (7/8) or jeans in winter?

I've got some jeans which are ankle length and some 7/8 trousers, which I love.

I am trying to decide if and how I can wear them in winter or if I should just put them away till spring 🤔.

I think I might get away with the jeans with brogues and maybe socks?

But maybe the trousers need to go away. I've been wearing them with flat shoes and button down shirts.

Thoughts?

Where do you live? (Roughly)

I wear ankle length jeans with socks and knee high boots sometimes, if the colour goes.

I wear mine in winter with short ankle boots (with a bit of ankle showing still) I wear a warm sock short sock inside the ankle boot and I'm fine unless it's like -3.

I'm in the SE England, so it rarely gets properly freezing here. The jeans in question wouldn't go under knee boots I don't think, as they are wider on the leg (girlfriend style).

I reckon I could get away with the ankle boots or maybe even high top trainers on warmer days 👍.

I’m in NE Scotland and wear long socks. I think the trick is that the socks look like a feature, so stripes, crocheted or something.

Oh I like that idea Judy. I was thinking that - maybe with the jeans and brogues, if I went for socks with a subtle bit of detail or colour on them, it would look more deliberate. The trousers are quite bright already (they're quite a bright shade of green), so I don't want to end up looking too wacky.

I've just bought some black high tops from Po Zu, which might look good with both.

I also have glittery socks (including sparkly black ones which might be better with loud trews) which are good, but they tend not to be quite long enough once it gets properly cold.
