Skinny jeans, help a mother out?

Hello beautiful people
Since having children my waist had become rather thick
However my legs have stayed skinny
If I get jeans to fit my waist they go baggy on the legs (not ideal) and I'm not keen on the looser-on-the-leg mom or boyfriend style.
Does anyone know a skinny jean brand/style that might suit me?

Levis? They seem to be designed for people with curves!

septemberismyfavouritemonth · 22/09/2019 17:00

Top Shop Jamie jeans are brilliant.

MayaWhySoDown · 22/09/2019 17:00

Topshop Jonis seem to fit me best and I think I am a similar shape to you.

ShirleyPhallus · 22/09/2019 17:00

Topshop Joni jeans are amazing

ToastyFingers · 22/09/2019 17:01

New look 'hallie' jeans are brilliant but try them on first as the sizes run big and you might need smaller than usual.

mumofftwo · 22/09/2019 17:10

Simply be but they start at a 12

emsyj37 · 22/09/2019 17:50

Next 360 are amazing and keep their shape.

Bookworm4 · 22/09/2019 17:51

High waisted skinny is what you need, most brands do them from Primark to Levi, whatever suits your budget. Tesco do good jeans.

Why would being high waisted mean they will be tight on the leg?

kmini · 22/09/2019 18:12

I have the same problem OP and exactly the same shape. Also I just find the bum and hip area lacking definition too. I need give on the waist but structure in the rear!

I dont mind mid rise Darcy from dorothy perkins but it has to be with belt otherwise they just slide down

kmini · 22/09/2019 18:18

I never understand why people suggest high waisted Jean's. High waisted are for hourglass ie smallest part of their frame is their waist (waist measurement is prob 80% of hip). In contrast, a rectangle or a apple shape (I am assuming this from your explanation OP) has a ratio of waist to hips that is nearing 1and therefore high waisted is not ideal. Love to be proven wrong on this but I'm yet to find a high waisted brand that is generous around the waist.

kmini · 22/09/2019 18:19

Jean's not Jean's

ZydecoLaydee · 22/09/2019 18:21

Zara premium mid rise skinny, and although not jeans, their jogger waist trouser also are perfect for this shape if you need something smarter!

Herja · 22/09/2019 18:24

Marks and sparks. Their waists are cut very large against the leg size, so needing a slightly wider waist to leg size should be fine.

Inforthelonghaul · 22/09/2019 18:24

I find most high waisted jeans too generous around the waist and too skinny in the leg so opposite problem to the OP. Next are always big round the middle as are the supermarket brands.

NightsOfCabiria · 22/09/2019 18:26

TopShop - Joni & Jamie
Next - high waisted skinny
Wallis - high waisted skinny
Paige - high waisted skinny

@kmini it’s because high waisted sit above the hip. On the hip or below and they just fall down as they dont have anything to stop them as apple shapes have slim hips, bottoms and thighs. Hourglass & pear shapes have hips, bottoms and thighs so can wear low rise jeans as their bottom and thighs stop them falling down.

Herja · 22/09/2019 18:26

Or primark, high waisted shaper jeans (which I was just praising on another thread!) seem to work like spanx, you could try them? Would work if it's loss of muscle tone causing the thicker waist I'd think?

Soozikinzii · 22/09/2019 18:42

M and s jeans are good for mums - I know it sounds boring but they don't have m and s all over them . You need sculpt and lift or bum lift jeans - those not my daughters jeans are good for that but they're expensive. M and s are just as good but you'll have to go and try them on to find the best fit !

Bookworm4 · 22/09/2019 18:55

@fedup21
High waisted skinny is a style, like boyfriend, mom jeans etc.

kmini · 22/09/2019 20:15

@NightsOfCabiria thanks for that explanation! Maybe I should resurrect my high waisted quest Grin. Only thing I find is that I have to size up in high waisted to get around my waist and so the bum and leg ends up loose. I have a normal BMI, size 8-10 (maybe more 10 these days if I'm honest Smile) - but my waist measurements is half my height. When I did a body shape test they told me I should see a doctor because my waist to height was half, which means I'm obese apparently!

weewinnie · 22/09/2019 20:27

Thank you everyone for suggestions! I will look into them. Although I do know that the topshop Jamie and Joni do not work on me.
I actually do have hips and bum but from vulva down im very slender 😂
Not particularly overweight (maybe a bit) but it's my proportions since kids I struggle with!
Thanks again

I would have said skinny jeans are the style and these are just ones with a higher waist.

Whenever I’ve tried high waisted skinny jeans on, they are just like any other pair of skinny jeans round the legs but come up higher on the waist! They aren’t tight around knees like I’d like.

I’m like you, OP-bigger waist but I have skinny legs. Next 360 aren’t bad and Gap have done some 1969 legging jeans (proper jeans, not leggings) which seem to fit tightly around the leg.

thepinkp · 22/09/2019 21:20

I've found the Dorothy Perkins range of jeans very good. Like you I have slim legs but carry a bit of weight round the mum tum area! They do a good skinning range

NightsOfCabiria · 23/09/2019 09:44

@kmini look for jeans with lots of stretch or try jeggings.

Sainsburys cut for a larger waist, as do DP’s.

Mopmum35 · 24/09/2019 22:25

Ok so I have alot of trouble with Jean's, I've had 6 kids and my belly will never be flat againConfused my legs are skinny I've found the perfect pair for me. They cling to my legs and the stretch is amazing, the best pair I've had! I could also go down to my smallest size to as they are stretchy I'm between a 8-10 10-12 depending where I shop but::: Ultimate 4 Way Stretch Skinny Jeans from George Asda are bloody brillSmile £25 pound
