Can you wear midi dresses with black tights and boots?

I've ordered a load of long sleeved midi dresses in mid weight fabrics, shirt styles and round-necked.

My idea was to wear them with back tights and boots in winter but am I missing the point? Are they more no tights and autumn wear?

Do they need to be knitted or heavyweight?

Here are some examples

I think they will look good with either ankle boots or long boots- I was planning on doing the same!

TileFloors · 21/09/2019 06:45

I hope so - it’s what I live in for work in autumn and winter! I think you’re right that heavyweight dresses and skirts look best, but there’s nothing wrong with a medium weight midi with opaques and boots.

Haffiana · 21/09/2019 10:29

Definitely. I live in this combination in the winter.

thedevilinablackdress · 21/09/2019 10:31

If course! No tights and boots only works for about 2 days of the year.

Ive seen some pictures of models in long boots with midi dresses. I’m scratching my head to think where, maybe the current Hush catalogue?

I’m quite old so it’s like going back on time for me! But they looked good.

I can’t do midi dresses as they seem to depend on having a small torso, where as i have quite lean limbs that I’m not keen to hide, and a thicker torso than I’d like.
But enough about me!

Gwenhwyfar · 21/09/2019 10:49

Where did you get the dresses from?

Hullabalooo · 21/09/2019 11:52

Yes where did you get the dresses from?

Trills · 21/09/2019 11:54

I certainly can. Nothing will stop me.

Musicforsnorks · 21/09/2019 13:08

Yes.
I fact I think the models always look odd in winter type clothes with bare legs and ankle socks like small schoolchildren.

There are many images of boots and longer dresses about.
I’ve already started wearing this combo and it feels lovely!

Yes! I have that warehouse dress and wear with tights and ankle boots. Looks good but the belt tends to slip so i’m constantly adjusting it.

ChickenyChick · 21/09/2019 14:03

For some reason, when I wear black tights and ankle boots with midi dresses i feel like I am trying to look like a witch Confused ... only the broom is missing!

I can’t make it look right

Fresta · 21/09/2019 14:09

I think tall boots probably look better than ankle boots with tights.

BeardedMum · 21/09/2019 14:15

Midi dresses really don’t agree me and just make me look so frumpy 😭

MoveOnTheCards · 21/09/2019 21:45

Ankle boots can look fine! I switch between wedge and block heels. Not skinny heels.

Gwenhwyfar · 22/09/2019 10:03

Warehouse has a midi autumn daisy dress for 52 in the shops at the moment. I tried it on and loved the style, but I don't like that pattern so I'll have to wait and hope they bring out something else. I bought the knee length dress in black with yellow flowers instead. I can see me wearing knee length to work more easily, but I am interested in getting one of these midi dresses even though I'm a short arse
