Please help me find some black trousers!!!

Haven't a clue what style to go for!! There is a possibility that next month I might start a little job in a nursery. It's only 2 mornings a week but all the same, it's the first job I have done since being pregnant with DD who is now approaching 6.

I live in jeans or long skirts but will need a Logo T-shirt and black trousers. My obvious requirement will be comfort as like my daughter, the little boy I will be supporting has Down Syndrome and I probably be down on my knees or sitting on the floor.....

Please point me in the right direction for a comfortable but stylish pair of trousers.

get a few cheapy jogging bottoms. i find jeans the easiest thing to wear when working with children. would your nursey allow black ones?

Wath out for knicker flashing, worst crime in nursery staff . head for "older" shops like BHS, M&S etc for a slightly highr waist and more comfortable cut.

I think if they say black trousers they probably don't want joggy bottoms TBH

what about crop pants???they have some nice ones in river island

I don't think I would feel right in jogging bottoms to be honest. I'd be happier with something I knew I could wash and wear over and over, and even if it is only a few hours a week, I want to feel happy in what I am wearing IYKWIM!

What's "IN" and OK for a 41 yr old to wear? I am 5'5" and a size 12, would probably need a longer length for winter. I'd prefer something I could wear whenever rather than just "work" trousers. My wardrode could do with a bit more style!

I like crops but think full length would be more practical as Autumn approaches soon after I start.

Wide legged linen trousers if it's warm - M & S are pretty good and also cheap.

Gap do a decent range which seem to wash quite well - still a fair few left in the sale at the moment.

If you're feeling a bit richer - M & S Limited edition or Autograph ranges often have nice ones.

Will line not look really creased after a bit of sitting and crawling about?

One thng I advise after spending years sitting on plastic chairs is get trousers with cotton (or wool) in, (sweaty arse syndrome). Even Matalan do cotton mix plain trousers (tend to have low waist but worth trying on a few), don't spend a lot and don't expect them to look nice for going out. they will get glue, paint and all sorts on them and need to be washed a lot. Just get 1 pair, plain black and you can wear a few different tops (watch out for low or gaping fronts when bending over).

Dorothy P have nice fits too but again experiment with a few to get a good waistline.

Only way to choose is to go and try a whole load on. Any shop. There are so many black trousers, but you need to try them on to see if they look good on you. I find what fits my mate, doesn't necessarily fit me. Take 6 pairs into Next changing rooms and see the difference between each.

Thank you ladies, will try to find a few minutes to myself in the holidays to try some on...but how is another matter!!!

Found myself a bargain yesterday!!!!!

Went to Dockside Outlet to get kiddies feet measured in Clarks and while we were there popped into Choice the Next Discount store.
It's pot luck usually- often there is a load of ol' cr*p!!! BUt found myself a pair of black trousers,wash/tumble, slight stretch, perfect fit.....reduced to £10.99!!!!

Clarks didn't have anything for school for my DD, but whilst in Choice I also managed to pick up a pair of fab, black leather school shoes for just £9.99. Such a great deal I got the next size up as well, slightly different syle and paid only £9.49 for them!!! Quids in!!!!
