Can I make darkish hair lighter for a fancy dress event?

Obvs I don’t want to bleach it or anything like that but does anyone know if hair chalks or that kind of thing can make darkish hair look blond? Or can they only be used to add colour to blond hair?

There are various sprays, and some of them will coat hair with a new colour even if paler than the natural hair colour. Coverage isn't great, but should be OK for fancy dress (at least at the start of the evening)

I haven't had any for a while, so sorry I don't know what current good buys are.

Batiste do a blonde dry shampoo spray. Claires Accessories has lots of hair colour sprays.
