Going to a masked ball in 2 weeks time (shudder) - haven't bought a mask yet, as I think I need to get the dress first.

Have trawled ebay, but lost the only one I liked today. Doh.... this one wide straps essential as I am 32 G & have the associated bra issues - ie, can't go without one, strapless not great, & the only ones that really do the job for me have to be designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

I am a size 10 everywhere else, but the norks do tend to put a spanner in the works.

Don't really want to go black. Green / turqoise / teal type colours tend to suit me - would also consider sliver or a really soft purple. I am 5'4", blonde hair, blue eyes, pale skin. Help!

Also I should say that I want to spend less than £100 if possible.

How about this in the teal? Possibly this one? Bit of a bargain (in the 'turquoise marine')

JackieNo · 08/08/2007 22:34

OOh - love the colour of this one.

MamaG · 08/08/2007 22:35

at £8

JackieNo · 08/08/2007 22:36

I know, MamaG!

JackieNo · 08/08/2007 22:36

Not sure about this one?

MamaG · 08/08/2007 22:38

LAura Ashley one lovely

JackieNo · 08/08/2007 22:39

The Laura Ashley one's definitely my favourits - gorgeous colour.

JackieNo · 08/08/2007 22:39

favourite, obviously.

MamaG · 08/08/2007 22:40

Mine too JN, but eight quid!

JackieNo · 08/08/2007 22:43

It's almost worth buying it just to have it in the wardrobe in case, isn't it.

Can you get to Monsoon, as they have lots of lovely dresses (with room for bra straps) at 70% off in the sales, so prob even cheaper than ebay...

JackieNo · 08/08/2007 23:04

And (getting ahead of myself a bit here), if you're prepared to spend a bit on a mask, how about this site - gorgeous ones (though not as gorgeous as the ones here which cost £££.

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 08/08/2007 23:20

Thanks all.

Jackie - love the Laura Ashley one, but colour perhaps not quite dramatic enough for this - would definately wear it for a wedding or similar though. The masks are perfect & I'll go back to that site when I have the frock.

Cod - That teal one at phase 8 is lush. Could be a contender.

Pannacotta - hadn't thought about actually GOING INTO THE SHOP and looking. I am a donut... durrr

you know, going to a masked ball would be my worst nightmare. I'd be terrified. I even shuddered when I opened J-No's link (giggle at J-No)

JackieNo · 08/08/2007 23:23

(Should I namechange to JackieFromTheBlock?)

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 08/08/2007 23:23

Pannacotta - just re-read and realised that sounds a bit sarcy. Just to be clear, I am that daft that I hadn't actually thought about going to Monsoon. Even though I know there's a sale on. And it's that only clothing chainstore in my town

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 08/08/2007 23:25

Not particularly looking forward to it. Just sounds a bit... naff?

It's at a racecourse too

oh, done and dusted I see - well done J-No! [rofl] - top shapes

If nothing in Monsoon (and you'd be surprised, they had some lovely things left last week), that Laura Ashley duck-egg one is luscious - get a silvery mask and some silver sandals (Dorothy Perkins or Barratts good source of party shoes)

Pannacotta · 09/08/2007 12:19

Loads more in my local Monsoon than on the website and its all reduced too (well all but the very new autumn things). Lots of thing for womens with boobs/needing bras. Good luck, keep us posted. Love Jackieno's mask sites too

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 09/08/2007 14:30

Thanks everyone for your top tips.

Well, I went to Monsoon this morning - lots of lovely things but all size 8, 18 & 20

Then I had another look at ebay & found the dress that I missed out on yesterday, Buy it Now for £33.99!! Yay!

So now I can splash out on shoes & mask! Do we still think sliver with the green? Or gold? Black?
