What (casual) footwear do you wear when it's raining/wet in summer?

I realise this is a bit late for this year! Just thinking ahead for next summer & in the optimistic hope of a nice autumn.

Winter time I wear boots, knee boots with skirts, biker style with trousers. Summer I have sandals of course then nice canvas trainer-y things which work well with dresses or 3/4 trousers. But I never know what to put on my feet when it's raining but warm.

(I wear leather hiking boots for work more or less year round with thicker or thinner socks depending on weather, so that doesn't help.)

I have tan leather brogues from Clark's. Got them a couple of years back in the Spring so they are quite light looking - not clumpy. Can't wear them with skirts or dresses but look good with cut offs or trousers.

I wear loafers mostly as I need supportive shoes (so non of these flat thin sole efforts) and covered toes

ExpletiveDelighted · 08/09/2019 19:41

I still tend to wear sandals, feet dry out faster than shoes.

Scoose · 08/09/2019 19:43

Converse

Sadik · 08/09/2019 20:41

Don't your feet get wet in converse Scoose? I like them, but would have thought it'd be the same problem as my canvas trainers.

I usually wear fashion trainers

stoneagemum · 08/09/2019 20:53

Shoe protector spray on summer style shoes

HundredMilesAnHour · 08/09/2019 21:56

I wear leather trainers. Or I wear rubber shoes from Melissa. I used to live in a country that got typhoons and black rain and I found the most practical work outfit was Melissa ballet shoes, bare legs and a waterproof trench coat over my dress. The Melissa shoes are genius when it's raining.

I've got MBTs that are like a cross between an active sandal and a trainer. Very comfy, even when soaked

Look right with anything you would wear trainers, converse or active sandals with

I have converse that are an all leather design Grin

june2007 · 08/09/2019 22:33

Summer tends to be sandles.

VanGoghsDog · 08/09/2019 22:42

I wear loafers of brogue lace ups.

VanGoghsDog · 08/09/2019 22:42

*or, not of

BikeRunSki · 08/09/2019 22:44

Leather trainers or Birkies and wet feet

hammeringinmyhead · 09/09/2019 06:38

Leather trainers or Converse. The sole and toecap being plastic means puddles don't seep and rain doesn't seem to wet the tops of my feet!

teta · 09/09/2019 09:21

Backless tan loafers.

JaceLancs · 09/09/2019 09:23

Pointed flat shoes
Sometimes slipper style loafers but only if the toe shape is not round

Scoose · 09/09/2019 15:54

I have a couple of pairs of leather converse as well as canvas ones

NanooCov · 09/09/2019 16:09

I have a pair of navy leather sneakers from Jigsaw that I wear a lot.

moonpiggle · 09/09/2019 16:43

Converse high tops and my Steve Madden cliff trainers. Or Docs.

ellzebellze · 09/09/2019 16:45

Either trainers or flip-flops depending on what else I'm wearing and/or how hot it is. If the ground is really wet then walking boots.

cruellaisback · 09/09/2019 16:59

Brogues or flat leather mary-janes.

Sadik · 10/09/2019 19:50

Good point about plastic sole & toecap on Converse hammeringinmyhead - it's what I always used to wear in summer (admittedly when I lived in a drier part of the country!), maybe I should get another pair. They're an easy option style-wise with the sorts of things I wear.
