MUCH cheaper alternative to Rolex datejust?

My ex gave me one, but when we separated I gave it back - which I’m regretting as a) it was beautiful and b) he was a knob.

So, if I love the silver Chunky strap style, classic face, looks expensive / quality but with a budget the size of a mars bar, what would you recommend?!

I’m torn, as I don’t want him to feel sorry for me (or try and embarrass me?) if he sees me replicating it, but equally, that’s the style I love?! I should go for something completely different shouldn’t I? Gah!

Thank you all in advance for helping me pick a fuck You watch that ticks these boxes!

I would also go very different while you save for something real. It keeps it from being frustrating.

You could do something like Tissot which comes in several colors, including a silver band.

or

Daniel Wellington , which also comes in different colors.

I'm not a Rolex gal, myself (I tend towards Patek Philippe when given a chance, but I think it's worth saving for the one you want rather than buying the knockoff.

I love my Rolex, and would never give it up! I think you should’ve kept it! Anyway, www.swissarmy.com/us/en/Products/Watches/Womens-Watches/Alliance-Small-35-mm/p/241828?mt_load=lt30

Is what I used to have, and I absolutely loved it.

Posted too soon. Still a Swiss watch, with the build quality you’d expect. And very reasonably priced.

sienna8Luna · 10/09/2019 07:41

I would have a look at Tissot. Affordable, stylish and very good watches.

There are lots of very nice watches in the sub £500 bracket that will give you a similar feel and a smile. Granted they are not a Rolex, but you have lots of options and something different also gives you a move away from the relationship.

How about:

There are endless options, although something I like to do, is look for an automatic watch from my year of birth, it gives a sentimental value beyond the actual watch, sort of "if this little bracelet full of cogs can keep going all these years, then so can I!".

Good luck

Tissot also have that solid, heavy but not too heavy feel about them.

Beebumble2 · 10/09/2019 08:03

Have a look at Rotary watches, a classic make with proven reliability.
I have the woman’s Oxford model with crystals round the bezel. It’s solid and has weight. In the past people have asked me if it’s a Rolex.
I also wear a similar Citizen watch, which is lighter and works on solar power, so no battery needed.

Gillianhosie · 10/09/2019 08:50

Hi I work for Rolex and the one you have was currently £13,000+ ...you can purchase a Rolex with an exclusive purchase plan over 3/5 years interest bearing 9.9% with a minimum of 10% deposit. That is another option for you.

Gillianhosie · 10/09/2019 08:51

Rolex do not do a quartz movement Automatic only

Woodlandwitch · 10/09/2019 09:07

Could you start looking in antique jewellers who deal in older watches? You might just find something perfect

Woodlandwitch · 10/09/2019 09:10

Some second hand Rolex watches for sale here.
Their finance is 0% if over 12 months

Sekonda do a very similar style to the date just!

My ex bought me a datejust Rolex and asked for it back when we divorced. My solicitor said it was a gift and he could whistle for it. I love to wear it when he comes to collect the kids to rub it in his face haha

Derbee · 10/09/2019 12:44

@Gillianhosie 9.9% is crazy! Surely people don’t do that? Shock

mtel · 10/09/2019 13:02

Go for an Orient Classic President. A great Datejust homage from an extremely good brand (Orient are a sister company to Seiko).

Belindabelle · 10/09/2019 13:05

I have not had my Rolex very long. I think you were crazy to give it back. Honourable and principled but crazy. What you need is a time machine to go back and make a different decision.

Given a replacement will be 13K do you think your ex would sell your old one back to you?

beatriceprior · 10/09/2019 13:08

Link of London have some

On the back of this thread I’ve been dropping cheeky bids onto eBay listings for Omegas and Rolexes on the off chance I get lucky at a super steel of a price
