Lip fillers, your experiences?

I have a consultation this coming Tuesday with a view to having fillers, 1ml.

Does it hurt? Will 1ml be enough to make a notable difference? Do you regret having them or glad that you have?

I think it’s one of those things where you are very much relying on the expertise of your aesthetician.

I had mine done 6 months ago and for me it’s just not worth it. I had 1ml and my lips were crazy swollen for a good 3-4 days. The second day they were so bad my kids were scared of me. When it calmed down it was so subtle you really couldn’t tell. It was a bit bumpy and lasted less than three months.

I think you have to kind of dedicate yourself to it to get good results. Go regularly. Get small top ups. Have adjustments. It’s all too much like hard work for me and bloody expensive!!

PinkLacy · 07/09/2019 13:10

Ouch. All those photos look very sore and very unnatural.

Have you considered perhaps buying a self-help book on improving your self-esteem instead of spending all this money on what is, essentially, disfiguring yourself?

Blockedandfarted · 07/09/2019 13:16

That's a bit rude Pink, each to their own and all that.

I don't think wanting lip fillers automatically equates to low self esteem.

I hate this trend for stuffing stuff into your faces.

Make sure you go to a dr. Don't get it done at a cheap clinic. Ifs it's around £140 per ML then there's a reason for that. Expect to pay around £200-240 for 1ml from a reputable place. You don't need to use the full ml either. You can usually tell how your lips will end up straight away, before the swelling comes.

superram · 07/09/2019 13:36

I think it’s very obvious, it rarely —never— looks natural, save your money.

slobberyblob · 07/09/2019 13:37

@Blockedandfarted that before and after pic you posted is fantastic! The filler is perfectly placed, it's not too high up causing that atrocious ridge that some others have. Love! Enjoy your new lips when you get them!

MellowBird85 · 07/09/2019 13:41

@slobberyblob
have you ever considered going fucking yourself?

Hahaha

perhapsimight · 07/09/2019 13:42

I just don't get it. I think they look awful. People saving up money to bruise their mouth in the name of vanity.
Go give the money to someone who has no food or do something useful.
What a weird lot us humans are. Such massive egos we have.

YesQueen · 07/09/2019 13:47

@perhapsimight I have Botox but also buy for food banks. It isn't either/or

Writersblock2 · 07/09/2019 13:54

It so depends on who does your lips as to how they turn out (and joe they bruise). First time, I had 1ml and I REALLY bruised. I looked like I’d gone a few rounds in the ring and there was no hiding it. When they settled down I loved them. I had 1ml.

Second time wasn’t very long ago. Didn’t person did them. They used the hydro-droplet/Russian technique and I only had 5ml but they look SO much better and bigger than last time because she clearly was great at what she was doing. I did bruise slightly but nowhere near as bad as the first time and they were so much less painful too. I plan to go back with this person.

Blockedandfarted · 07/09/2019 13:55

People are entitled to their own opinions on cosmetic procedures of course, but at the same time i see no need to criticise others for their personal preferences.

@perhapsimight

I wonder if you'd dare say they look 'awful' to someone like me with naturally full lips, much fuller than any of these pics.

And all of them look great too, I think they look really. I'd never know if I saw them on the street.

Blockedandfarted · 07/09/2019 13:58

Thank you for those who've had them for sharing your experiences and reccomendations Smile

I will be getting them and I'm looking forward to it. I'll post a before and after once I've had them done, and will brace myself for being told how awful I look Wink

My EXH has large lips and our DC have inherited the same, I think they look great and much nicer than my current non existent lips.

here's my lips before any filler at all. my friends can't even tell I've had them done. glad I look awful though.

Lip fillers, your experiences?
Blockedandfarted · 07/09/2019 14:03

Brooke your lips are fab, if mine look anything like yours when I've had the fillers then I'll be very happy indeed!

OP posts:
stanski · 07/09/2019 14:06

Have any of you done cannula as it's meant to be less painful than injections?

Nevth · 07/09/2019 14:15

Please don't. Some of my friends who have had it done are so happy that it looks 'subtle'. And facing them straight on, it does, to be fair. But even when it's 'subtle', it creates a very unnatural and recognisable profile.

brookelopez · 07/09/2019 14:24

Blocked, thanks! I'm really pleased with mine. evened out my droop in the top lip and it's smoothed them out too so no lines. you'll have to update us when you have them done

ILikeyourHairyHands · 07/09/2019 14:35

I don't understand why people always seem to want to 'even out their thinner top lip', you know your top lip is meant to be thinner than your bottom lip don't you?

Mummyoftwo91 · 07/09/2019 15:23

I made a similar thread before on lip fillers and got such nasty comments if you don't like or agree with it why comment on this thread? Op asked for people's experiences not people's opinions, we are all free to do whatever we like with our bodies and it's no one else's fucking business ☺️🖕🏼

Mooey89 · 07/09/2019 15:45

fucking hell I think some of you got lost on your way to AIBU.
I know some people don’t like them, some people love them. It’s not deep seated insecurity.
I’m quite happy with how I look, in general. But I get my hair done, I dye my brows, I perm my lashes, and other treatments. To me my lips are no different. You do you.

sheshootssheimplores · 07/09/2019 16:47

This reminds me of an interview on woman’s hour where they were arguing with a young girl who had filler/or Botox. The criticism was that we should all love ourselves for what we look like naturally. Her parting shot was do you dye your hair? And both women had to agree they did and their argument fell away before their eyes 🤣
