Please help me find a 'nice' rucksack

It has to fit A4 wallets in etc and fairly sturdy.

It also has to look nice! I quite like dark brown leather as my 'go to' look but also happy with something similar to those Kankun backpacks (not happy to pay that price for the quality though)

Any ideas?

No Cath Kidston please Grin

I’ve got a Wenger laptop bag, from Rymans of all places (they don’t stock the one I got any more). It’s lasted really well, it was a good price and I think it looks good.

Have you looked at Hershel backpacks OP? Really lovely range of colours, and a few different sizes.

YesILikeItToo · 06/09/2019 20:29

Doc Marten do good looking bags.

WhoKnewBeefStew · 06/09/2019 20:31

I've just bought a samsonite one for work and absolutely love it

Span1elsRock · 06/09/2019 20:31

I looked in a lovely boutique last week that had some Roka ones in. The colours were really nice and great quality bags. This has reminded me to order one online as I'd seen them recommended on here a few months back.

dramaqueen · 06/09/2019 20:32

I've got one from here www.lefrik.com/backpacks

Great customer service and the bag arrived within 2 days. Really well made and perfect for my commute.

beahunnywashyourtummy · 06/09/2019 20:53

I feel very cheeky as I think I'm going for something different to all these suggestions! Blush

It's this www.tkmaxx.com/women/accessories/handbags/cognac-leather-backpack/p/11080297

I wasn't actually aware they had a website but stumbled upon it and thought I would have a look. This looks perfect, just wondering if it's going to be really heavy?

If not suitable then I'll probably go for the Coast rucksack from Joules

I bought a Himawari on Amazon in black and white, perfect for a laptop and A4 folders.

31RueCambon75001 · 06/09/2019 21:06

Try wardow. I biught a lovely Joop one a while ago.

FedUpWhatsApp · 06/09/2019 21:09

I don't think those straps could handle much tbh

Zinnia · 06/09/2019 21:41

I hope you've found the rucksack for you, @beahunnywashyourtummy!

If not, for non-leather I'd second the recommendations for Mat & Nat/ Herschel, and add Rains and Knomo (who do leather as well).

Otherwise Whistles's leather Verity style is brilliant and though £££ new in store, there are always NWT ones on eBay for about £100.

thenightsky · 06/09/2019 21:51

I've been looking for a decent backpack for bloody years. Why do they always make them with the zips and fastenings on the outside, where light-fingered thieves can help themselves? And stupid drawstring tops? How unsecure can you get?

I wish I could find just one with the zip/opening flat against my body.

The search goes on.

fruitpastille · 06/09/2019 21:58

I've got a Hedgren backpack still going strong after 15 years.

Betty777 · 06/09/2019 22:02

I was looking for a grown up laptop backpack this week. my old Rains one was good, but the zip broke. After looking at loads of ugly options I've opted for another rains (this time the MSN bag, no zip) Herschel are the strongest quality, but I am too old to cart around a teenagers backpack now :-)

SunnySomer · 06/09/2019 22:02

The fashionable women on my train have Knomo ones - very handsome but £££££ (about £150).
Agree with a pp that Herschel are good

JemimaCuddleMuck · 06/09/2019 22:20

@thenightsky www.oncetwo.com/collections/bags/products/casual-waterproof-unisex-backpack

It's not a looker but has the security features you want.

purpleme12 · 06/09/2019 22:25

Oh I d going to say accesorize. I've got one from there. Looks good quality to be

Twolittlebears · 07/09/2019 07:18

Disagree about Herschel being quality. I had one and it hardly lasted a year. I complained too and they did nothing. Would never buy again.

Divebar · 07/09/2019 08:39

I don’t think I’d get a leather one unless you pay a decent wack.. I have one and the straps are too thin for the weight I carry in it and it’s developed a hole at the bottom. But maybe you don’t carry so much. I like Eastpak for practicalities but Hunter do some really stylish bags.

LifeOfBox · 07/09/2019 09:11

I have got a leather one from Tusting, probably 25 years old, cost a few hundred quid back then. They replaced the straps for me about five years ago - fab bag and has been used a lot.

I don't use it for work because I walk a couple of miles and wet leather (even though it is saddle leather) isn't good and the straps are great but they aren't as good as the straps on the bags that are designed to carry laptops etc.

SalitaeDiscesa · 07/09/2019 09:35

www.riut.co.uk/

SalitaeDiscesa · 07/09/2019 09:36

That's for @thenightsky

jcurve · 07/09/2019 10:18

I never get the Mia Tui love. They are not attractive bags.

Agreed. They are frumptastic.

I have an Anello bag which is really good. I also like the John Lewis bag linked earlier.

thenightsky · 07/09/2019 10:45

Those riut ones look like a contender! Thanks for the link. Smile
