Hair!!!

Okay, I'm pissed off with hair colouring. Advice would be fabulous.

I have naturally ginger/red hair. I hated my colour when I was younger and dyed it all sorts of colours. However, now I am going white (not grey) I mourn my ginger locks.

What I want is to keep my natural colour but JUST dye the whites. They are increasing rapidly!!

I thought that if I dyed my hair lighter than my natural colour then it would just disguise the white.

I have just used Olia Rose Gold and was gutted to see it did NOTHING. Waste of money and damage to my hair to no avail.

Any tips to just dye the whites so that they blend in with my natural colour?

Can't afford hairdressers once a month and my hair grows fast

Thank you in anticipation for some wise words!

I'd put the conditioner in instead. Doh.

www.superdrug.com/Superdrug/Superdrug-Colour-Effects-Wash-In-Wash-Out-Rich-Red-6-4/p/751851 this is really good and blends it all in with minimum effort. I just leave it on for 5 mins in between shampoo and conditoner. Builds up too so you don't need to do it every time you wash your hair.

Ooh that looks good - no hair damage! How long does it last between applications? Does it cover white? Thank you

I tried the wash in wash out colour effects. I had to leave it on longer than suggested to see any difference and the result was quite an artificial orange. I don't think it will cover white hair.

It covers the bits of white around my hairline and I try and use it every other time i wash for 5 mins but can get away with missing 2 or 3 applications. Lasts longer if you can be bothered to do it properly and leave it on your hair for a bit longer. They do an "auburn gold" colour too if the red starts getting too bright.

slinkysaluki · 11/09/2019 00:01

Im auburn with white hairs no grey. I use Nice and Easy medium auburn its very close to my natural colour, no strong ammonia smell either, its permanent but mo real roots as i said its very near my natural auburn. They do a light auburn also which is more coppery

TitanTanya44 · 11/09/2019 12:09

Do you leave it on longer than it says on the box Slinky?

I do root area first for 15/20 minutes then i put the rest if colour through hair and leave (it says 5 minutes but i leave on tor 10/15)

slinkysaluki · 11/09/2019 14:24

Forgot to say obviously you can put colour on in one go the first time you do it but when you need to redo as roots show, do roots first then lengths or you will end up with colour build up on lengths

Jesse70 · 11/09/2019 14:31

Is it really bad your grey/white or do u just think it is? It's a slippery slope once u start using the permanent dyes

SconeofDestiny · 11/09/2019 14:47

@slinkysaluki white hair is what we call grey. You don't actually grow grey hair.

@TitanTanya44 Sounds like you need to try again and make sure you mix the developer in with the colour this time and leave for the full development time. Smile

slinkysaluki · 11/09/2019 20:35

Scone. Yes i am aware of that Wink

GhostCurry · 11/09/2019 22:18

Please don’t use henna, it will turn the whites fluorescent orange.

TitanTanya44 · 12/09/2019 20:25

I have bought the Olia Rose Gold again and will try again (this time adding the developer to the solution rather than the conditioner!)

My hair is about 20% white (enough to be noticeable).

I really wish I'd appreciated my hair when it was just ginger...now it's going I realise my folly!!

Thank you
