Bridesmaid dresses - would these look odd?

Sunshinelollipopsrainbowz · 28/08/2019 10:31

I get married next year and I really wanted the different colour pastel dresses for my bridesmaids.
I’m really struggling to find 4 dresses, in 4 colours, in 4 sizes though! So I was thinking of having 4 colours and 2 styles. The pink & blue would be the style on the left, and lilac and mint green the style of the right. Would that look odd do you think?

I don’t like those 2 colours together sorry. I think you’re making it really difficult for yourself.

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 28/08/2019 10:53

I had 4 completely different bridesmaids dresses at my wedding. One pale blue, one grey, one pale pink and one sage green. The pink one was the only one not from coast and looking back it did look a bit strange as the styles didn't match. I think 4 colours and 2 styles would work as they are quite similar.

I went to one wedding where there were about 6 bridesmaids who all had different styles made out of the same fabric and that looked good too.

uggmum · 28/08/2019 10:53

I like the idea of different pastel colours but these do not go together.

So perhaps colours that merge together better would look good

uggmum · 28/08/2019 10:57

Here's some examples of colours that match well.

I think you need to do either

Same style in different colours
Or
Different styles in the same colour.

Is there a reason you want them so different??

Sooverthemill · 28/08/2019 11:04

I agree different styles in same colour or same style different but blending colours.i like all one colour, different styles best I think

Sunshinelollipopsrainbowz · 28/08/2019 11:06

Thanks everyone. I’ve always wanted the pastel theme but without either paying a fortune or ordering from China it’s so hard!
Do you think these look any better? I’m just missing mint green. The only thing I’m worried about is that the blue is petite as they only had it in that range. I’m hoping my slightly shorter cousin will be able to pull it off. If not that’s why I was thinking of doing the different styles.

I literally just want the pastel theme so green/blue, lilac, pink etc. But because they are all different sizes I can’t seem to find an affordable range that have the same dress in 4 colours with the sizes I want in stock!
My dress was a breeze, this is difficult! x

They're beautiful uggmum
Yes, OP, something like uggmum suggests.
Although re-reading your post I don't think you're suggesting those colours together, just the styles, in the colours you've mentioned or have I got that wrong?

kenandbarbie · 28/08/2019 11:09

I think you're making things hard for yourself. If you're trying to economize trying to find dresses that match in tone but in different colours is going to be hard.

Sunshinelollipopsrainbowz · 28/08/2019 11:13

Haha this so confusing, I’m sorry!
I really want every bridesmaid to have a different colour pastel. Blue, green, lilac, pink or along those lines.
But I’m struggling to find the same style dress that come in the 4 colours and has the sizes I need in stock. I managed to get the colours in the picture I last posted of the 3 (mint hasn’t arrived yet) but I’m just concerned it won’t fit my cousin as the blue is petite (it was out of stock in regular) so I was thinking of having 2 in the style with the sparkly chest bit as they have them in stock in the colours I like. I’m confused and I know what I mean!

These are what I had in mind. Very difficult to find!

Have a look at these: www.inoneclothing.com/wedding-dresses-bridesmaids-multiway

FenellaMaxwell · 28/08/2019 11:21

I got my bridesmaids’ dresses from there and did the opposite - all one colour but they could wear any style they liked, and it worked brilliantly - the dresses were lovely. Here’s a picture of multi-pastel ones....

The three dresses you’ve got in the photo you posted look lovely together and the colours are beautiful. You’ll have to get your cousin to try the petite one and see if it works, I guess. If it does then I think that’s your best bet. I prefer there to be some cohesion - so the same dress in different colours. That way you have some uniformity in style/fabric and it doesn’t end up looking cluttered and messy.

Ninkaninus · 28/08/2019 11:23

Is the blue dress in stock in regular in one size up from what your cousin wears? Because you could probably have it altered to fit.

Sunshinelollipopsrainbowz · 28/08/2019 11:51

No typically they must have been on sale and I missed it - meaning all sizes in the regular range are out of stock Sad if she wears flats and the others heels maybe I’ll get away with it.

What about something like this

www.modmiss.com/product/women-multicolor-gradient-ombre-backless-a-line-maxi-dress-329622.html%7Bifdbm:?utm_source=google&utm_medium=DBM&utm_campaign=DRESS&utm_content=8MMA5E700A%7D&currency=GBP&gclid=Cj0KCQjw753rBRCVARIsANe3o44oAZ9iEcij__aqFklJ2DDSjssyV8du69bv5mrJg9ZKt6nn_iPglLMaAt1MEALw_wcB
So you get all the colours but they can match (I don’t know the site so not a recommendation more an idea).

Or pastel rainbow tulle skirts and a different pastel cami each?

TruffleShuffles · 29/08/2019 10:28

Have you looked on ASOS OP? They do quite a good range of bridesmaid dresses in pastel colours and you can mix and match both colours and styles. The ones I’ve posted also come in lemon and peach as an example.

Ninkaninus · 29/08/2019 11:20

Oh no what a shame! Fingers crossed that you find the perfect ones!

Amara123 · 29/08/2019 11:30

Just wanted to second asos, very good for bridesmaid dresses and a range of fits and sizes there.

Amara123 · 29/08/2019 11:32

I should also add Dessy to the list but it is more expensive than asos. Those are the only two places I think might be able to do what you want

Sunshinelollipopsrainbowz · 29/08/2019 16:40

Thank you everyone for your suggestions, much appreciated! Luckily my cousin is more petite than I anticipated and it looked lovely on her! So fingers crossed the others are ok, they might be slightly long actually so I’m hoping that they aren’t too expensive to be taken up!

I think those multi-way dresses will really date and go out of fashion very soon

Some lovely stuff in ASOS, and depending on budget, Ghost dresses are beautiful and really classy and would fit the bill:
