Hi all,

I am terrible for fashion and buying clothes, I never know what I should wear and always just go back to buying the same old t shirt and jeans.
When I do buy something I usually wear it so much that it then goes bobbly and shabby looking.

I love dresses and jumpsuits in the summer and have a few of these but now the colder weather will be soon cutting in I need ideas on a basic capsule wardrobe / essentials for the weather.

I am a mum of a 1 year old so comfort too wouldn't go amiss.
I love coatigans with hoods and have a few of these but wanted advice on what upcoming fashion there is and what I need as a basic wardrobe that I can then add bits too as I usually have a lovely shopping spree then get bored and wear the stuff so much it goes out of fashion.
I'm terrible for knowing if things "match" and what I suit.

I have a standard mum tum and wider hope so do prefer floaty tops as appose to tighter fitting clothes.
We are also on a small budget for house saving atm too so nothing too pricey! I usually like shops such as Tesco (fave atm), new look, Sainsbury's TU, Asda and ASOS.

I'm a size 12-14, 5 foot 6 if that helps x

Same age as you here, OP.

Thing about us mid-twenties mothers is that we can still easily 'get away' with wearing comfy clothes and those can look pretty bomb when styled correctly.

In Autumn, I'm planning to wear things like black ripped skinnies (or non-ripped. Or not even black. Basically, nice skinnies) with any plain top underneath and a bomber jacket. I got a NIIIICE one from River Island, it's khaki with tiny leopard print that's so tiny it's inobvious. Looks awesome. Air Force 1s on the feet and I'm good to go.

Or skinnies and a nice not-too-oversized warm stylish hoodie. Definitely not a 4 sizes too big/faded/stretched out one. I've an awesome yellow one making its way to me right now. Plus NICE trainers of your choice. Adidas superstars, AF1s, Air Max or just plain old converse.

Jumpers and skinnies. I find that as a warm-toned, brown haired girl, cream knitted jumpers (not turtlenecks) look great on me, and I'll half-tuck it in to create an asymmetrical hemline, or roll the sleeves up, to make it more interesting to the eye.

It is very true that shoes make the outfit. I used to always look frumpy, even when I was wearing nice new clothes, when I wore basic black flats for some reason. They're just so meh. Right now I'm buying loads of fashionable trainers/sneakers, and I've a pair of Clarks caddy belle for winter, now looking for great tan Chelsea boots.

Oh, here's the thing - tan/brown shoes usually look better than black. And whatever you do, avoid the 'mum boot'.
