The dress is actually navy and ivory, not black, although it looks it in the pic, so I've ruled black out

no need, esp where silver / white is involved

I like the dress and actually quite like the accessories they;ve put with it - would say smaller bag for a wedding though. The peep-toe-ish sandals work very well, better than strappy ones IMO.

I personally think that matching shoes and bag sometimes looks a little too Conservative MP's wronged wife.

I think your idea sounds fab with that dress.

the shoes in the pic have sold out in my sizem agree bag too big, although I do need to have a bag big enough for boxes of raisins/nappy & wipes / toy cars! (small dS)
