Dear MN fashionistas,

I realise it's a bit early for the winter options to be in the shops, but I'm looking for some ideas for the dress I need to get for my sister's wedding. She's made it very clear she expects us to look 'gorgeous' Confused Which could be tricky, as I'm a bit of a scruff!

It's happening in a city centre, ceremony is in a theatre, after-party in a pub, so I don't have to stick to the classic wedding vibe, I can go a bit off-piste.

I'm 32, 5'9'' and size 8, I'm very slim all over except for my tummy which is slightly rounded and I'd say that's my 'hate' area - guess you could call me a skinny apple. Long skinny limbs, very pale, I have a scruffy A-line bob ash brown which I will probably get waved. My everyday style is stuck-in-the-nineties grungy, clompy boots, lots of dark colours, eyeliner, etc.

In my head, the ideas that are springing to mind are: liquid silver, velvet, plum/dark green, short, high neck, but I'm really open to any ideas at all. Suggestions for what I could wear on my feet with your dresses would be great! I can do a medium heel.

Thank you in advance!

There will be loads of high necked minis in plum and green closer to Christmas. I know that doesnt help now, but worth waiting? Is the tummy due to bloat? What is liquid silver?
