Clarks brogues

So, I've been taken in by all the posts on here and have bought some Clarks brogues. I think they'll probably look okay with culottes, cropped trousers and wide-legged trousers, but really not sure about skirts and dresses. I'm a short size 13-ish.

I've just put them on to get used to them and DP has announced that they look really nice but also that I look like Mr Noisy. He's now wandering around shouting, "I'd like a piece of meat" at random intervals. I need to take them back, don't I?

Cards on table: I like a tweedy look and I have a couple of A-line, knee length skirts. But I don't normally pair them with brogues. As a rule of thumb, if I'm going for a Miss Marple vibe, I normally wear one or two things that are 'off-look'.

My brogues collection is gradually expanding. I wear them when other people would wear sneakers - my go-to casual shoes.

I do also wear them with skirts: as you say, with a mini and poloneck. Also with tweed mid-calf skirts or dresses (big, unruly hair, tightly nipped in waist and modern accessories to try not to look too tweedy librarian - though if I do edge into that territory, that is fine by me).

Sadly my ankles are not well-defined, but I am slim, with long slim legs so think that helps.

Until last week I was a brogue virgin, then I got these beauties from New Look! Real leather and a complete bargain. I’m a size 7 and they even make my feet look almost feminine. And now they’ve only gone and brought them out in brown which I’m going to have to buy as well
