WTF are these (a cautionary tale of shopping in a hurry)

Work trousers were looking a bit tired so nipped into H&M on the way home, grabbing what I thought were a nice pair of cropped black trousers with a side split. Due to them being hung sideways and me being a twit I didn't realise until trying them on that the split is at the front.

Why? I am so confused. I actually looked on the website to check they weren't a mistake. Who buys these?

It's very fashionable! Happy Beckham's been wearing them....take them back!

As PP said, they are inspired by a Victoria Beckham design, except hers are longer, with the back coming down over the back of a very high heel.

They do look stupid. Probably even more so if you are a bit shorter than that model.

Do they fit nicely though? Because if they do I would be tempted to just ladder stitch that ridiculousness up.

Holly Willoughby wore something somewhat similar to those not too long ago. Loathed them at first but I must say, they're really starting to grow on me.

I quite like them in a way. But I'd never wear them myself because I can't pull off the model poses that make them look cool.

(Not to mention my considerably more ample proportions, which would mean it'd look like my fat calves had simply split the seams!)

They aren't a great fit, I'm quite long of leg so the split is halfway up my shin and not flattering. I can see they might work with very high heels but not with my brogues.
They are going back and I'll be more careful this time!

Weird! I imagine they'd look rubbish when you sat down. They kind of work on Holly Willoughby in that picture because of the way she's standing, but you can't very well stand around like that all day.
