Best high street mascara that isn’t Benefit They’re Real?

I flip flop between different brands - looking for one I love that I come back to time and again. That used to be Max factor masterpiece max - maybe I should revisit it?

They’re Real didn’t do it for me sadly (which actually I’m not disappointed about as it’s fairly ££). Nothing too spendy.... More interested in lengthening and curling than fullness. Thanks in advance!

Essence - Mascara Volume Effect false eyelashes - Lash Princess, blacK

It’s about £3-£4 in wilko and the best I’ve ever used and that include Lancôme

applepineapple · 19/08/2019 19:06

Essence Lash Princess (the green one) from Wilkos Grin

0pheIiaBaIIs · 19/08/2019 19:20

@TrumpetyChump it's been discontinued! It was my go-to for years. They've replaced it with one with a stupid plastic brush and it's not the same at all. Stupid Primark!

BarberaofSeville · 19/08/2019 19:23

No. 7 in the gold tube as has been mentioned above. I searched for years for my perfect mascara and the search is over now. It's bloody brilliant.

Kiko in the golden tube.

ps1991 · 19/08/2019 21:36

I always buy Clinique ones. They’re pricey but I always come back to them after being disappointed with other brands. They are difficult to remove, but if you use Clinique remover it’s a doddle ☺️

BumboBaggins · 20/08/2019 12:20

Thank you all! Some excellent options there so I’m going to try some new ones and hope I find my pot of gold at the end of the rainbow 😀🌈

Someone on here recommended Miss Hippie to me by L'oreal and I haven't looked back tbh. The only thing I would really like is a brown version of the waterproof as I'm quite blond and some days I would like to look more natural, but it seems there aren't may brands that do that and the ones that do are £££

Buddyelf · 20/08/2019 13:25

I have 2 that I always go back to; YSL false lash effect mascara and Benefit Rollerlash

Gherkinbee · 21/08/2019 22:42

I bought the No 7 gold tube one and wore it for the first time today. Can I ask what other people us to take it off?! I usually use eye make up remover but not shifting; is it a tubing type one and if so, what should I use instead? I ended up pulling it off my lashes. It definitely does what it says on the tin in terms of staying put.....

SteadyAreYouReady · 21/08/2019 22:50

Benefits Bad Gal seems to be really good, I have a 3 pack of their mascaras and normally like they’re real but I’m keen on this now

SeroxatBlonde · 22/08/2019 00:08

Gherkinbee use warm water on a cotton pad,it looks alarmingly like you've pulled your eyelashes out but it's the tubesGrin

cheesemumma · 22/08/2019 00:21

Agree with @littlepeas no7 stay perfect. No panda eyes anymore!!

Gherkinbee · 22/08/2019 06:30

Thanks @SeroxatBlonde!

Fatted · 22/08/2019 06:35

Loreal telescopic for me as well. It's the brush though I think that makes it so good!

I've also recently started using Soap and Glory. I got one in a gift set at Xmas and gave it a go and was really impressed. So much so I've bought myself another one. It is probably more volume than length though so might not be what you're looking for.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/08/2019 07:02

Benefit Rollerlash is my favourite. Or Max Factor ones are generally good for less £££.

prognos1s · 22/08/2019 07:07

any of the maybeline mascaras are wonderful. especially for sensetive eyes

Bottomofsmughill · 25/08/2019 07:41

I used to love They’re Real but then tried Roller Lash by buying a set of 3 mini mascaras which was great. I’d also recommend Eyeko - got a few in beauty boxes and they’ve all been fantastic.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 25/08/2019 08:43

L'Oréal Telescopic
I've tried all sorts and so many of them now make my eyes burn or they won't come off, or they just look crap. But Telescopic is great. I used to use the Maybelline ones but they seemed to change a few years ago, and they're not as good.

Rosere · 27/08/2019 19:34

Max factor 2000 calories is a thing of magic!! I've currently got some benefit one I got as a gift, don't love it. When it's time for the bin I'm going back to max factor.

BirthdayDreamer · 28/08/2019 22:08

Maybelline Falsies Push Up Drama in the pink and red metallic tube. It's very good, doesn't clump or smudge on me, extends my eyelashes well. I don't get on with Great Lash though, never have, even when it was very popular.

For £££ then Diorshow Mascara is also v good.

BirthdayDreamer · 28/08/2019 22:10

also to remove mascara I use Garnier Miscellar water on a cotton pad. Instead of scrubbing, I hold it down over my eyelashes then gently wipe away after a few seconds. I do the same when removing nail varnish - press the pad that's soaked in remover on the nail for a few seconds in turn, then go back to each one in turn. Allowing a removal product some time to work saves a lot of rubbing and scrubbing Smile
