Hairdresser- not the change I wanted

Might be slightly hormonal and tired as in last stages of pregnancy and feeling fat and unattractive.
I went to the hairdressers this morning before I go to a party this afternoon and had my hair coloured.
Luckily I had a voucher or it should have been £150 but it was still nearly £100 with no cut.
I can't help feeling I haven't got what I asked for? To me it looks no different than I did. Before! (Pic 3)

The picture below is what I wanted and the other is what I got- am I being a bit over sensitive?!

If you know me please don't say anything....

It’s too hard to tell from the photos you’ve posted. It looks a different colour to what you originally had but not what you’ve asked for.

LoafofSellotape · 17/08/2019 13:33

It looks lovely and completely different from what you had.

TacoFlavouredKisses · 17/08/2019 13:33

It's not exactly what you asked for but I thought the second pic was an Instagram example too - it's a beautiful colour and lovely style!

AgathaRaisinsGreenStillettos · 17/08/2019 13:34

I just think it's really not what I asked for Sad

Zebraaa · 17/08/2019 13:36

I think your “after” photo is really nice! Not exactly what you asked for (needed darker roots on top) but it’s much more on trend than your before photo.

WanderingTrolley1 · 17/08/2019 13:37

It’s nothing like what you asked for. I’d be gutted.

keepingbees · 17/08/2019 13:37

It looks lighter than before but definitely not £150 worth lighter! From the picture I guess you wanted a balayage with darker on top and lighter ends? If so no you didn't get what you asked for. It looks nice but for that price it should be exactly what you wanted.

Popuppippa · 17/08/2019 13:42

It looks cooler toned than the before photo but you'd need a root smudge to look like the example pics.

whatcarforme · 17/08/2019 13:46

It's beautiful but not what you asked for, no.

AgathaRaisinsGreenStillettos · 17/08/2019 14:08

Thank you.

Apparently this is a root smudge balyage. I'm so disappointed.
It was meant to be close to my natural colour at the root which is dark brown so I could go longer between colours when the baby comes

I also have a root smudge balayage. This is what you have been given (and it's really nice) but your two colours (root smudge and highlights) are too close. It looks like the root smudge should have been darker.mine is much the same as yours. Worth going back to have the smudge made a tone or two darker??

Star801 · 17/08/2019 14:26

It’s a lovely colour but it’s definitely not what you asked for.

AgathaRaisinsGreenStillettos · 17/08/2019 14:27

I just feel awkward as I'm not the kind to make a fuss, but it was also a decent amount of money I spent to not look how I would like to have.

Why not be brave and give them a call. Tell them what you've just posted - that you want a darker root smudge, closer to your natural shade and that's not what you got. Ask to go in for them to correct it. I bet you'll feel better if you at least ask. Any good salon would invite tyou back in and emphasise the root smudge.

Kellsbells67 · 17/08/2019 17:26

This is a balayage in the pic. Unless you had dark hair it would be tricky to do. The thing with vouchers are they tend to use them on less experienced hairdressers to build up clients.
When it comes to hair I would do vouchers.
You can go back though.... It would of been better saying it at the time but I'm sure they'd correct it. Probs looking for low lights and a root smudge.

Kellsbells67 · 17/08/2019 17:27

Wouldn't do vouchers!!

Toooozie · 18/08/2019 15:43

I'm a hairdresser. Please please phone up and say whilst you like your hair, it isn't what you asked for. They will gladly put it right for you! It will take them about an hour, and the salon would much rather you be happy with your hair and return or maybe even recomend to your friends than hate your hair, not return or tell others that your unhappy with their service. It is lovely but I agree, you wont be able to keep up the maintenance with a new baby. And yes, people do take their babies to hairdressers with them. Personally, I wouldn't do it though. Don't suffer in silence, your hairdresser would he devastated to know you didnt like you hair and just put up with it!

AgathaRaisinsGreenStillettos · 18/08/2019 16:27

Thank you so much I've emailed them.
I think I'll just feel so awkward going back

zippyswife · 18/08/2019 16:33

I love it. It’s much nicer than what you asked for. But it’s definitely not what you asked for so go back

mistermagpie · 18/08/2019 16:47

My hair is almost exactly the same as what you wanted (the bottom right one is practically identical). I wouldn't be happy with what you got, although it does look nice? It's clearly not what you asked for.

user1469551226 · 18/08/2019 18:02

Hi I'm a hairdresser and I agree with the other hairdresser on the thread...GO BACK!!! I don't know where you live or the type of salon you went to but maybe the stylist there wasn't competent in Balayage? Don't feel awkward, honestly do you know how many people go back into a salon if they're not happy, especially when the finished result really isn't what you had asked for. Unless the stylist explained to you at the start that what you wanted wouldn't be achievable in one visit (doubtful as it really is from the pics!) Then you have every right to go back. Alternatively, if you live in London, message me back and I'll sort it out for you. X

AgathaRaisinsGreenStillettos · 18/08/2019 18:22

Thank you everyone, I shall see what they say

I just thought I'd update... I've had it redone and I'm
Happier not sure it's exactly like I asked for still but never mind

It's different but not the style you asked for. I have the style you wanted and it's balayage with a long bob. Yours is blonde with just more tones in it. Still looks super lovely though ! and the updated one still isnt the balayage style as it's much darker with less blonde in it.

Is this the regular place you visit ? i get mine done at headmasters and they never disappoint (I never ask for a senior stylist)

user1469551226 · 28/08/2019 14:56

🤦🏻‍♀️ it looks nice but definitely not what u asked for... seriously, message me for next time, I'll look after u. X
