I want jeans that don't gape at the back of my waist.

I am about a size 16ish, and haven't worn jeans for years because of this gape. I tried some on today (pictured) that I loved but they still did it.

I have big thighs and bum BUT relatively small waist which is the problem.

Does anyone know where i can get some like these from marks, sainsburys, tesco, john lewis etc? Im willing to pay up to £30ish (or a bit more if they're absolutely perfect).

Wear a belt 💅🏻

TalkToMeAboutSocialWorkPlease · 12/08/2019 17:09

Well if that solved the problem then I would.

It's so hard to find good jeans.
I want ones that don't make a noise between the tops of my legs when I walk!!
Have you tried the Next lift slim and shape jeans?

TalkToMeAboutSocialWorkPlease · 12/08/2019 17:13

No but I will now, thanks for the recommendation.

I have this issue! I have a massive arse and tiny waist, it's a curse.

I have to wear skinny jeans with a lot of stretch, high waisted jeans are the worst offenders. Mid rise and a belt is the best combo. I don't tuck anything in (maybe the occasional "french tuck") so it's not a noticeable issue.

I've just bought denim shorts from Zara that seem to have a good hip to waist ratio and I can get away without a belt. I'm hoping their jeans might be a similar fit and I'll look when I need some new jeans.

Floisme · 12/08/2019 17:18

Have you thought of buying your usual brand and getting them taken in? I've had trousers altered at the waist for £12-£15.

Hazardtired · 12/08/2019 17:20

Skinnies/jeggings with lots of stretch! They need to feel too tight over your thighs and butt and then the fabric gives/molds over those areas. They wont last more than 18 months however due to the thigh wear so don't bother with super expensive ones.

The next lift and slim is a good call as well.

matahairyy · 12/08/2019 17:22

Just asked son gf. She worked on denim at TS Oxford Circus for years. She said a belt or stretch but too much stretch very naff
Or don’t wear jeans.

InTheLostAndFound · 12/08/2019 17:23

Same here, small waist and big thighs. Gap curvy range are brilliant, can be tricky to find in the right size as they’re often out of stock online, but if you find a pair you should be able to get them in your price range if you sign up to emails and get a discount code .

Hellbentwellwent · 12/08/2019 17:32

It’s easy to add darts to the waist. Take them to an alteration shop

thedevilinablackdress · 12/08/2019 17:36

Another vote for alterations.
Or I have found the Levi's Wedgie quite good.

Fatted · 12/08/2019 17:38

Another vote for Next lift slim and shape.

I always used to have this problem pre-kids. My waist has filled out a bit since having kids. But the next jeans are fab. They are high waisted and super stretchy.

YesQueen · 12/08/2019 17:56

Next hyper curve are good

goose1964 · 12/08/2019 19:39

Same here, I just don't wear jeans

Pipsnips · 12/08/2019 19:44

I am similar shape to you, big bum and thighs and small waist. I recently got some super high waist Jean's from next, they were about £40 but are bloody marvellous! They are super comfy and do up at the top of my waist. No more gap for me!

BehindATractor · 12/08/2019 19:54

The best I’ve found are the Gap Perfect Boot jeans - they’re not quite as high as I prefer on the waist (more mid rise) but they don’t gape at the back. These ones:
www.gap.co.uk/gap/mid-rise-perfect-boot-jeans/000241085.html?dwvar_000241085_color=000241085000&dwvar_000241085_fit=regular&cgid=57390#parentCategory=57386&start=3

For the person suggestion a belt, I find a belt just ends up with the belt around my waist and the jeans well below it, flapping...

moonpiggle · 12/08/2019 20:01

My friend has this problem! She tried Fashion Nova and swears they are the perfect jeans, no gaping back and perfect fit. Worth a try maybe.

jcoc147 · 12/08/2019 21:43

I swear by river island Molly jeans. I'm a similar size to you OP and have the same problem. These jeans have plenty of stretch in them.

Luckingfovely · 12/08/2019 21:54

Next lift slim and shape. I can't praise these enough! No gapping, ever.

I can't stand Next as a brand overall, but I will always, always buy these jeans! I have them in every colour.

HeyThereSummerRain · 12/08/2019 22:05

Another vote for Next lift and slim.

My waist is a good 10/11 inches smaller than my massive hips, everything I get to fit my hips gapes on the waist.

In the mean time if you wanted to try inserting elastic into the jean waistband have a look [[https://www.itsalwaysautumn.com/how-to-fix-your-jeans-waistband-no-more-jeans-gap.html here]

I used to do this when Ds1 was too tall for children's trousers and too skinny to fill men's trousers which also didn't have an adjustable waist. I have done this on swim shorts for him too.

Mustbetimeforachange · 12/08/2019 22:11

Next lift & slim are brilliant. £45 but worth ever penny.
