any recommendations? i have terribly dry skin on my face and nothing i’ve tried seems to actually work. i would prefer something not too pricey but would probably pay anything if it was guaranteed to work!

Nivea daily essentials works wonders for me.

MarkRonsonsMother · 11/08/2019 19:18

Childs Farm Moisturiser £3.99

LoafofSellotape · 11/08/2019 19:20

Muiji essence followed by blue Nivea or Nivea soft.

Always eucerin night cream

Considering I have dry skin I find nivea a bit too "greasy" feeling personally (although it's great for my scaly hands) - I've been searching for the same holy grail OP, and on amazon everyone raves about Aveeno.

I got some and although again its amazing on hands, all it does for my face is form a film which then sloughs off! I find that a lot with rich creams for some reason - I stick with lotion.

I've found most success using a muslin exfoliating cloth with Simple facial wash, then either Simple really rich moisturising lotion or Olay beauty fluid. I often have rough scaly patches and visible dry skin, and this regime seems to work!

Nivea Daily essentials is very heavy, so i use it in my driest days. Otherwise the simple hydrating serum underneath a sukin moisturizer works well

Jergens incidentally do the best fake tan EVER!

missmouse101 · 11/08/2019 19:49

Vaseline intensive care, blue and white bottle.

Expensive (very) but will change your skin forever - Elemis Pro Collagen Marine Cream.

Propertyofhood · 11/08/2019 19:58

Weleda Skin Food - I just love it! It's very thick so you can warm it up in your hands first before applying. Some people don't like the smell, it's kind of herby, but it's awesome for dry skin.

alltalknobaby · 11/08/2019 20:02

Neat vitamin E oil at night, Clinique dramatically different for dry skin during the day

DidgeDoolittle · 11/08/2019 20:56

I came on to say Weleda Skin Food. It's fantastic. I have very dry, old skin. Skin food is the only thing that sorts it out. I use it at night, but apparently it makes a good make up base. I also use it as a face mask if emergency Sahara levels threaten.

Brittany2019 · 11/08/2019 21:00

I second the Eucerin recommendation. I bought it last week and find it really good on my very dry skin. I use the night cream during the day, and it sinks in totally within about 20 minutes, that’s how dry my skin is.

thisenglishlife · 11/08/2019 21:08

Cleanser and pre-moisturiser are more important than moisturiser. I recommend the following:
Superfacialist vitamin c cleansing oil and Superdrug B Essence (use before moisturiser) www.superdrug.com/Shop-all-Cleansing-Solutions/B-Essence-Lotion/p/605300

Other options (very good but not as good and cost more)
Clinique moisture surge spray
Clinique take the day off cleansing balm
Elemis cleansing balm
Emma Hardie cleansing balm

zippyswife · 11/08/2019 21:15

I had very dry skin. Almond oil (ktc almond oil- it’s about £1 for a bottle that lasts a year) has completely sorted it. I no longer need moisturiser. My skin is not dry at all now and lovely and soft. Also works well to tame my coarse hair.

DottieLottie1 · 11/08/2019 21:21

Aveeno all day long.

DeRigueurMortis · 11/08/2019 21:27

As a pp above I love Elemis Marine cream and also Charlotte Tilbury night cream (don't get on that well with the CT magic day cream though).

When my skin is really dry I use the CT night cream morning and night - it's really, really rich so only really suitable for very dry skin.

TheWildAndTheCurious · 11/08/2019 22:05

Superdrug vitamin e moisturisers is brilliant! I use the hydrating serum before as well.

Isthebigwomanhere · 11/08/2019 22:07

Superdrug vitamin E range has been a game changer for me

sunshineandshowers21 · 12/08/2019 03:01

thank you for the recommendations everyone, it’s very much appreciated. i’m off to town today so i’ll pick up a few that have been recommended and give them a try. the vitamin e range from superdrug sounds hopeful, one of my friends raves about it too so i’ll definitely be giving it a go!

I buy a basic gentle moisturiser and add a drop or two of pure vitamin e oil for an extra boost. Works well to even skin tone and fade surface scars too.
