and more importantly, what are you using now? my H had dandruff for years, and then started using the l'oreal elvive orange anti dandruff shampoo - problem solved overnight.

I assume they have stopped making it, as after only being able to by it in fewer and few places I've not seen the stuff in many months. He's tried the new l'oreal offering, plus t-gel and some other stuff, and nothing's as good. Can anyone recommend anything?

It’s the active ingredient selenium that you need. Previous threads suggested H&S clinical or Vichy .

JintyandtheJs · 10/08/2019 18:22

Vichy Dercos

dementedpixie · 10/08/2019 18:25

Head and shoulders clinical solutions has selenium in it which was the active ingredient in the elvive one. Dh uses it

Morrisons have the H&S stuff on 3 for £10 (£5 for 1)

L'oreal Elvive still do AntiDandruff 2 in 1 shampoo &
Conditioner. Changed the packaging in the last few months so wouldn't have thought they are about to discontinue it.

Cleared DS's dandruff overnight.

It isn't the one with Selenium in it though. The orange cap one was discontinued

waltzingparrot · 10/08/2019 20:11

Has he tried Nizoral shampoo? They sell it at Boots/Amazon. DS used to get this from the doctor. It does have an active ingredient in it, but not the one you mentioned.

It was quite strong but we found the Elvive 2 in 1 worked perfectly, so switched.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 10/08/2019 20:33

Thanks all.

I don't know on a chemical level what's different, but apparently
Blue Elvive < Orange Elvive

Head and shoulders clinical has been tried and rejected.

The Body Shop one comes in a travel size for two quid so will grab one of those when in town, and H is going to order the Vichy one.

I bought the small The Bidy Shop ginger one and it worked for me. It worked so well that I ordered two large bottles online along with the conditioner. About a week later, I noticed it wasn’t working as well. Then it stopped completely. I think it is good for a temporary solution. I’m now back using H&S. It isn’t great but it’s the best I can find.

I use vosene for dandruff, I get it from the poundshop and it works fab. My son has more serious dry scalp problem, I use the bodyshop ginger shampoo on him and it works miracles. Strangely it doesn't help with my mild dandruff though.

GymKitJen · 10/08/2019 23:02

H&M's clinical solutions here

LoafofSellotape · 10/08/2019 23:06

Head and Shoulders with argan oil, that's the important thing, has to be with argan oil.

TBS ginger one works for a bit.

T Gel- ok at a push.

Gilead · 10/08/2019 23:36

Delaunay from boots is really good and very similar to the elvive.

Gilead · 10/08/2019 23:37

Ye gods! IGNORE that!

Selsun is the stuff!
