thus has arrived (sale bargain)...

...and it is not bad at all.
Cut is a bit straight-up-and-down but green colour is lovely.
Tis lightweight enough to be feasibly rolled up and tucked in a bag, roomy enough to get a cardigan under (possibly not a chunky jumper, will test further when am bump-free).
Good price and good returns policy - think they're out of Smalls though.

[this has been a public service announcement, thank you for your time]

Thankyou MrsB
When my Boden mac with a hood arrives (next few days)i shall report accordingly

NotADragonOfSoup · 03/08/2007 10:39

What is the point of a rain coat with no hood??

expatinscotland · 03/08/2007 10:40

Nothing's going to arrive anytime soon with all these postal strikes.

DarrellRivers · 03/08/2007 10:42

OHh the voices of doom and gloom
one day in the future when it arrives I shall report
Surely I'm not the only person who has found it difficult to find a stylish mac with a hood.
Seems to be either stylish=no hood
or sensible but boring= hood

expatinscotland · 03/08/2007 10:44

The climber in me has a sensible mac w/hood.

It's about staying dry! Style and pissing rain don't mix. Besides, no one's looking to care - they're too busy hunched under hoods or brollies.

Cod will say, 'Then put on a stylish hat' but she doesn't live up here, where the wind will have it off in a flash.

That being said, Land's End do very durable 'sensible' outdoor gear at a reasonable price, as does LLBean and REI.

DarrellRivers · 03/08/2007 10:46

I dress for myself, don't care whether others look or not and I don't see why you can't look nice and be dry.
Not mutually exclusive
Ps I do have loads of sensible macs too

expatinscotland · 03/08/2007 10:54

Yes, yes they are (being dry and stylish are mutuaully exclusive).

Land's End 'tank tops' are really the bee's knees. They seriously last and last and don't fade.

Their cashmere 'tshirt' sweaters are the business, too.

Land's End? I'd go for a size 10.

I have a green cashmere sweater from there that I've had for 8 years now, and a red one that I've had for 16 years!

They really do last if you take care of them.

Hmm. I don't use a brolly here because it's often windy and the brolly tends to have a short life.

Hats tend to blow off.

Any other alternatives to hoods, then?

cremolafoam · 03/08/2007 14:41

1hire a chauffeur
2wear a tesco bag on your bonce
3never go out again
4send huffy teenager on all errands
