Any colouristas tell me what “season” is DH?

Ok, there is no way DH is ever going to agree to have his colours “done”, however when I buy things for him I would like to get it right.

I know he isn’t a winter.

He has fair skin with pink undertones, brown eyes, butterscotch hair with a hint of ginger. He doesn’t suit “true” red. He suits duck-egg blue and some greens.

Any ideas?

Spring?

My H has similar colouring and I know think suits a 'spring' palette. Or what I've seen online to be spring. I'm not an expert tho.
I do know that black is pretty awful on him.

What would be marvellous is if he agreed with me Grin

Ah! Black is awful on my DH too!

Pink undertones - is that not summer???

The only season that suits black is winter.

The experts will tell you it's impossible to (shiver) a season over t'interweb.

Pale grey is revolting on H too. And gold suits him WAY better than silver. Silver is all wrong on him. Which i believe makes him a 'warm' season - autumn or Spring. And when I look up autumn colours, they're not quite him. So I've settled on Spring.

But I'm sure there will be a proper expert around soon. I could be talking a whole heap o' shite.

Thanks all -

Oooh I never thought about the silver-or-gold thing - I think I like his gold specs on him better than his silver ones.

When you say black and grey don’t suit him, does charcoal suit him?

Black can be harsh on people but I think if they have vibrant hair, it looks very dramatic. My DD is blonde and has lightly tanned skin and black looks really well on her.

Try variations of shades rather than ruling any one colour out completely.

Autumnal colours (with the exception of rust) - burgundy/deep green/chocolate brown (possibly) will probably suit your DH very well and it’s the right time of year to buy them.

Another thing to do is find a celebrity with similar colouring. Eg Prince Harry and look at photos. Steer away from the pale grey suits he is currently favouring but you will get a good idea of colours. It is much easier to do this for a man as it is less likely they will be wearing fake tan, make up and have coloured their hair.

ETA I enjoy fashion but I have never had my colours ‘done’ so am probably talking a pile of crap 😀

charcoal doesn't really suit him, no.

Quite difficult to find a celeb with his colouring, tbh - most people with that fairness of skin and lightish hair don't have the brown eyes. I though Chris Hemsworth but his hair colour seems to be subject to change!

Sounds similar to me, I am an autumn but only the less vibrant colours suit me and some of the spring colours suit me too. My best colour is rust, I have a few tops in it and people do say it suits me so he may be suited to it too.
