Is it unrealistic to expect blusher to last all of the working day?

Just that really. Always swish off to work looking rosy and fresh, and return pale and pasty, am sure the computer screen isn't helping. So do I just need to get over the fact it needs to be reapplied, or is there a holy grail product? I have various high end blushers mainly from Nars and Bobbi Brown and find the powder ones last longer but my face probably likes the cream ones better

i’ve used make up academy blusher for years and swear by it. it comes in quite a few colours and costs £1 from superdrug. i’ve used all different brands of blusher, from cheap and cheerful to high end, and i always come back to this one. it lasts all day on me, even if i don’t use primer or setting spray.

Thanks for the recommendation, I've got some of the MUA eyeshadows but never tried their blushers, will have a look

I use a mix of cream and powder. I do Glossier Cloud Paint over foundation (you only need a TINY bit), then By Terry setting powder, then a quick swish of powder blush over the top - either Nars or Hourglass. Never need to reapply.

I have the Glossier Cloud Paint so will give that a go too, thanks!

I do what Judy does too. Except I use a Model Co cream blusher then powder blusher after, either Autograph, Model Co or Nars.

Mine lasts all day. I use either NYX powder blush (can't remember the shade name but the pillar box red one) or Makeup Revolution's Dragon's Heart.
Both look garish in the box, but you need a tiny amount and they last dawn to dawn even without setting spray. The less pigmented versions also last from NXY too, although I haven't tried any others from MR.

Just checked and the NYX shade I use is called "red". How boring Sad

I third the suggestion of layering cream and powder, gives a lovely finish that lasts all day.

EnidButton · 08/08/2019 04:08

Yeah, the only thing I've found works is the layering method. I use Bobbi brown cream blush on cheeks, then bronzer (in the 3 shape), then Bobbi b powder blush. I make sure to blend it properly so it's not overdone.
Also finishing make up with a water spray (one of the can ones.) and a light dab with a beauty blender seems to make my makeup last longer.

Bronzer is bare minerals invisible bronzer in fair to light btw. Really subtle and perfect for very pale cool toned skin if you want to add a very slight hint of colour. Seems to make me look more polished and awake.

I commute with a walk to the station and train journey and find I have to top up blusher mid way through the day. I’ve tried cream and powder blushers.

Fucksandflowers · 08/08/2019 10:53

My blush doesn't last all day but then it is an eco friendly natural one so I suppose it's never going to be quite as good!

Before I started trying to go all natural all my make up was Superdrug MUA, it's absolutely fantastic!

LagoDiComo · 10/08/2019 11:56

Thanks everyone. I walk or cycle to work so maybe that’s not helping but seems like I need to try the cream/powder method and also check out MUA and NYX.
I’ve got the invisible bronze Bare Minerals too, think a bit more bronzer generally might help stave off the late day pastiness.

In the winter when I'm not as tanned I use the NYX blush in Taupe in the place of bronzer as on me it gives a more natural colour.
I find NYX blush lasts through all day of heat and sun here (Arizona), riding my horses, cycling, it really stays put.

Likewise the NYX dewy setting spray is fantastic, it contains niacinamide which I love and is the best setting spray I've ever used, gives a really natural glowing look too.

Violetroselily · 10/08/2019 18:28

I have a couple of cheapy CYO cream blushes which last very well

browzingss · 10/08/2019 22:28

My blush lasts all day - I just use Nars & MAC blushers.

Do you tend to lean on your face at work? Does your skin get oily through the day or do you sweat during your commute?

You might need to look at what skincare/foundation/primer you use if your makeup is fading within a few hours. Eg I notice you prefer cream products- is your skin on the dry side? It would be better to change your base products rather than relying on cream blushers as they have the tendency to fade vs powder. Try a setting spray eg UD all nighter
