I only ask as I think now, at mid 40’s I have just about given in to what actually suits me as opposed to what i colour I want.
I am naturally auburn, although over the years I have coloured it every colour under the sun. I would love to be blonde & have tried a few times but I look horrendous with it, it does not suit me at all, yet I can carry off very dark brown.
For the last 5 months I haven chosen to be a very light copper colour, closer to my natural colour. Although when I looked on the mirror, there was something off, like I looked old with it, it didn’t look natural, there was a brassines to it. The hair colour was nice, but it wasn’t matching my face, yet I have all the characteristics of a redhead, freckles & fair skin (brown eyes and brown eyebrows).
So last night I bit the bullet & slapped on a medium ash blonde. And I look, well I think I look a bit younger and my face matches my hair. There’s not a major difference, but most of the orangeyness has gone, I’m not so red now, just more of a warmish light brown & I look better for it, it may even look a bit ‘meh’ but the condition has improved so much (nice n easy no ammonia) so it’s super shiny.
So yes, if I could pick a nice blonde shade or a gorgeous copper, I know they don’t really suit me.
