Work shoes

I've been looking for some comfortable black flats for work (for the office). I'm a size 8 with wide feet so find it hard to get shoes that fit on the high street.

I ordered these Skechers shoes (in a size 7) and they fit beautifully. Ordered in a size 7 because all of the reviews said the sizing was wrong! They're so comfortable too!

Ok...they're not going to win any style awards but at my age (late 30s) comfort is starting to become more important!

What are your go to work shoes?

Hundredmilesanhour - I have met some stylish accountants but I'm not one of them! Ooh...those Neous boots look very different. Bet they don't do wide fit Sad

Ninkaninus those heeled brogues are absolutely gorgeous! I can’t see them in the Boden site but will try and find similar, they are just perfect for work.

HundredMilesAnHour · 01/08/2019 21:44

Sorry no, I don't think Neous do wide fit. They're pretty niche so I guess doing different widths would be too expensive for them.

Ninkaninus · 01/08/2019 22:03

They’re a few years old now. I love them so much, I’m going to be sad when they’re past their best.

HundredMilesAnHour · 01/08/2019 22:10

I like @Ninkaninus's patent brogues. I'm a sucker for shiny shoes.

I got these brogues from Paul Smith in the sale (I admit that I'd been eyeing them since they were first released) and they're 'travel shoes' so comfy like trainers but look like brogues. (I also have a thing for malachite as well as shiny Wink)

Wish I could pull off brogues - my Skechers look very inferior compared to every pair of shoes on this thread!

I have these same sketchers in size 4, OP and I've never properly been able to wear them in as they rub so badly on the back of my heel! But I can tell they would be so comfy if I could just wear them in!

jmh740 · 01/08/2019 22:20

Cant add a pic but I wear Clark's unloop shoes for work I have a problem with my foot and so many shoes are uncomfortable I wish I could wear pretty shoes. I'm also a size 8 with wide feet

Tootytata · 01/08/2019 22:22

Wearenotyourkind - omg! I've only tried them on, not worn them out anywhere. They seem so comfortable. I did buy one size down because most reviews said the sizing was about one size too big. I hope they don't rub cos I want them to be daily work shoes. I can't bear wearing shoes that hurt, even to "break them in".

Wearenotyourkind · 01/08/2019 23:31

@Tootytata me neither, I am so disappointed with them 😫 I've had them for over a year now and keep going back to try them and they always hurt the back of my heel so badly! I really hope you have more luck!

HundredMilesAnHour those Paul Smith shoes are beautiful!!!

CountFosco · 02/08/2019 06:33

I have serious shoe envy now, love all of Hundred's shoes. I'm a scientist so can wear whatever I want as long as it covers my toes and is leather (or fake leather, no canvas allowed) and doesn't have high heels. I live in flats and have a selection of Oxfords and Derby's (Rogue Matilda is one of my favourite shoe shops) and loafers. But today I'll be wearing trainers (probably my new Vejas.

stucknoue · 02/08/2019 07:08

M&S make decent plain shoes, my sensible ones are from there, they do wide fit

Tootytata · 02/08/2019 07:40

Not sure whether the Skechers are too chunky for work so I bought these Fit Flop ballerinas to try out too!

Wearenotyourkind - I'm wearing the Skechers today. It has started to rub on the back of my right foot (left foot seems fine bizarrely)! Wish I listened to you and returned them. It's a shame cos otherwise they are so comfortable!

They will stretch a bit with regular use. Wear a plaster for now to avoid blistering.

Tootytata · 02/08/2019 13:11

Thanks Ninkaninus. I hope so cos they are comfortable!

@Tootytata I know! So disappointing! The soles feel so comfy. You never know, you may be able to wear them in where I've failed.

partysong · 05/08/2019 01:14

@Lumene I'm a size 10. You can get basics from deichman in a size 10. Plus size shops usually do them too (Evans, yours)

Asos do some size 10 but they usually come up small on me.

I've started buying men's brogues from tk Maxx though. They're brilliant and cheap!

Galicali · 05/08/2019 04:31

@Lumene check out: www.gaborstore.nl/schoenen/ I think their 9,5 might potentially fit you?

QuestionableMouse · 05/08/2019 05:17

I turn my Sketchers over and stamp on the back of the heel a few times before I try to wear them. Failing that, lots of fabric strapping tape. (the 'skin' tone stuff.)

Thank you so much party and Gali
