Page Boy Chic - advice please

DS is to be page boy (just in name really, he's not expected to do anything, but is page boy because his big sister is bridesmaid really) for my sisters wedding in May. He will be just 2.

What stlyes have worked for people. He should be walking by then! (he has hypermobility so isn't walking or cruising yet at 15 months.

My sis wants him in a sailor suit (!) but I'm persuading her otherwise.

So, are suits or waistcoats too much for them at 2, or do they work well and is hiring them any good?

Thanks in advance!

suits are a pain and they get too hot in the jackets
I'd buy shirt trousers and waistcoat from somewhere like BHS (ie not too pricey) as you then don't panic re returning to hire co when he rolls in mud / has a Ribena moment etc.

really hate the idea of little boys in suits. Can you go the fancy dress route instead?

hockeypuck · 01/08/2007 11:44

witchandchips - love the idea of fancy dress but sont think he'll fit in too well as a pirate if we're all in posh wedding gear. He'll be in all the photos (well the ones he can tolerate anyway) so it might be a bit much!

LOL at the idea though!

Sailor theme - he could look cute in a Petit Bateau matelot top and some navy trousers - I think little kids in suits esp with matching waistcoats and cravats are horrible and poncy.

witchandchips · 01/08/2007 11:52

oooh i think a little boy in a pirate costume could be so sweet. Long black baggy shorts, white frilly blouse a size too big, red sash and a spotty hankerchief around the neck.

LOL thought this thread would be about you wanting to go for a pageboy / Prince Valliant style haircut for yourself! Was about to shout nooooooooooo .
I also hate little boys in suits, something Stephen King about it somehow. We just had DS in a little white linen short-sleeved shirt and chinos at the last wedding we went to.

oooh bouquetsofdynamite

Loving the idea of a white linen shirt and chinos - now you're talking! Hadn't even thought of that!

And are you telling me that you don't like my haircut! It's very now you know ;)

My ds (also 2) will be a pageboy for wedding in October. Got a suit from Adams (half price), with white shirt, and a tie to match groom, best man etc..

Tbh, I wasn't fussed about him being in a suit, but he got quite excited when he saw that daddy will be wearing the same
