...a young xyz would be better.if somewhat unlikely..so an everyday look and a night time look

for someone who hasn't a clue as you can see

if you could put it on for me that would help too lol

ps mascara is crap on me as i have a lack of eyelashes

Go to a make up counter and get them to do you over.

Maybe do your hair so it's off your face more. Looks like you're trying to hide behind it.

Not sure about makeup as don't wear it much

Sheherazadethegoat · 01/08/2007 10:28

go to bobbi brown or chanel as the are good for 'ladies'. get a nice light reflecting foundation and cream blusher. get a couple of lipsticks.

you seem to have nice skin from your picture so tbh i don't think you have too much to worry about.

agree with bom, hair all over the face is aging.

zippit · 01/08/2007 10:38

of course I'm hiding lol

hair was short for ages but have grown it as look like a man otherwise

I never know what to do with myself..

go to hair dresser and see what they say. Maybe some layers so feminine, but out of your face. It looks quite thick so layers should sit well. Will also frame your face.

Subtle bit of eyeshaow, not garish colour , little mascara, some lippy.
GORGEOUS................

BandofMothers · 01/08/2007 10:42

And a necklace. something pretty, not too delicate, but not huge and bulky. Long enough so it sits just under the dip of your throat.

MrsBadger · 01/08/2007 10:45

for daytime makeup go to a Benefit counter (in boots or Debenhams)
tell them you want to look less tired

they won't add colour (so no garish eyeshadow etc) but use their magic concealy stuff so you look like you only healthier.
Make notes, go away and think about it then buy the bits you really thought worked.

going out makeup I agree Bobbi Brown si a good bet.

zippit · 01/08/2007 10:53

ok I should see if there is benefit in boots

no debenhams here

never heard of bobby brown..is that London?

MrsBadger · 01/08/2007 11:08

Bobbi Brown
tis just another brand with counters in big Boots, dept stores etc

cerys · 01/08/2007 11:12

Benefit very good - I went in one day when I had had weeks of broken nights sleep and she made me look great. Only wish I could remember how to use all the products I ended up buying

MrsBadger · 01/08/2007 11:19

cerys, their website is pretty good...

cerys · 01/08/2007 11:24

thanks, MrsB!

zippit · 01/08/2007 11:32

OP posts:
cerys · 01/08/2007 12:43

zippit · 01/08/2007 12:58

I would have put you at ten years younger! When I read your age, I had to go and look at your profile again and I still don't believe you.

zippit · 01/08/2007 13:19

well you are kind

I have a fragile ego at the mo hence the need for make up and massage

Just wanted to add my goggling at the idea of Zippi being 50, doesn't look it at all!
Do ask make up ladies about mascara because it makes all the difference, if you use one item of make up it should be dark brown mascara.

ZacharyQuack · 02/08/2007 03:05

Hi zippi, you might also want to see if your library has Bobbi Brown's new book, it's all about makeup for women over 40.

zippit · 02/08/2007 09:05

I shall look out for that thanks

I was initially quite fascinated with the idea of these semi permanent eyelashes until i discovered that you have to have decent eyelashes to start with and that they only last five minutes..so as i'm not posh spice had to laugh that i thought of that one!

that photo on my profile was this week i took it myself with a timer...does slightly look as though i just got out of bed ...

I definitely look better now than I did a year ago..change of lifestyle and all that
