Looking for midi dresses, with sleeves, size 22 or decent work wear for summer into autumn.

I’m struggling to find decent dresses for work. I need size 22, would like a half or 3/4 sleeve (not sleeveless) and I would like to avoid black or grey. I’m trying to find dresses or outfits in general, for work that I can wear now in the heat but that will work into autumn too. I work as a teacher so nothing short or low cut. I want colourful clothes rather than black. I have a few bits from Boden but can anyone suggest where else to look? Lots of the curve brands seem very short or low cut. I’m 45+ Thanks.

I have a few dresses from Scarlet and Jo i’m a size 22/24 and find them very practical work wear for working with children( I’m not a teacher)
They wash well and don’t crease if you hang them up to dry. Some of the dresses are a bit low cut but others are fine. Some have sleeves and they have a section with pockets that I find helpful.
Quite a few online places stock the brand so you can usually get them on sale.

Have a look at H & M

I’ve bought most of my work wardrobe from Seasalt this year, although admittedly they aren’t the most fashionable. But definitely watch the sizing - I’m a 22 and most of the time need an 18 or 20 from them.

Mango Violetta has the odd thing that might be suitable.

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 27/07/2019 12:04

I was going to suggest seasalt as well. Next also has lots of dresses that are great for work wear.

myoctopus · 27/07/2019 13:26

I like some of the dresses on the Monki site, what's their sizing like?

Iamtooknackeredtorun · 27/07/2019 13:28

Next
Yumi curve
But definitely Boden

Rainbowsandrascals · 27/07/2019 18:06

Thank you - I’ve never looked at Monki before.

Popsy do nice dresses

ElspethFlashman · 27/07/2019 18:31

Monki are generous usually.

And always check out M+S.

BroomstickOfLove · 27/07/2019 18:55

I like Seasalt for work dresses.

BoudicasBoudoir · 27/07/2019 20:52

I’m finding it hard to find anything, too! .
Boden, Seasalt, H and M, Violetta, as others have said.
Here, maybe? www.gudrunsjoden.com I think the styling on the website is a bit extreme, but individual bits may be OK with less wacky accessories.
John Lewis, occasionally.
Monsoon? Haven’t looked there for a while, mind you.

Joyfulincolour · 28/07/2019 16:43

Yes Seasalt are nice. I’m always on the look out for them to do a fab sale like Boden do, but they never seem to!

trinity0097 · 28/07/2019 18:20

I wear loads of shirt dresses as a teacher, sleeveless mainly, bu I wear a thin long sleeve vest top under to cover my arms - could that be an option if you find something you like?

Deathraystare · 31/07/2019 08:50

Thanks for the heads up on Seasalt - I keep forgetting they do bigger sizes! Doh!

Joyfulincolour · 01/08/2019 21:46

Has anyone got any experience with Shien dresses? What is their quality and sizing like?

BubblesBuddy · 02/08/2019 02:28

M&S has just brought out loads of midi dresses with sleeves. I’ve bought two and they are great. Well priced but possibly not typical work wear - but wearable to work!
