Any opinions on long lasting wellies for thin, short calves? I'm petite so I struggle to find any kind of long boot that fits. I've been buying Peter Storm from my local Millets as they have an adjustable buckle but they last 6 months/a year of regular use. I live in a rural area and walk dogs and mud loving children every day, and while I am not trying to be fashionable on my walks I do try to avoid any kind of shoe that makes me look any shorter and more pear shaped than I am, wellies included.
DH wears Aigles and I've been really impressed with the longevity but the parcours style he wears seem to be unisex and I worry they will be absolutely huge on me (can't find a local stockist to try them on).
I saw a pair of le Chameau Giverney wellingtons that I rather liked the look of but I'm not sure I want to look like I'm copying the royals as I already own a barbour. Perhaps I'm being silly as lots of people must also own le Chameau who aren't royalty, but I don't want to seem over-styled/pretentious, I avoid Hunter for a similar reason (plus they seem a bit rubbish). I'm really not all that bothered by brand , only by fit and whether the boot is worth the cost. I have heard that barbour wellies are good but would they fit? Happy to consider cheaper but equally durable and well fitting brands!
Also, while I'm here, does anybody own any Ariat boots (I am looking at the grasmere style as the laces can be tightened) as I'm considering these for winter walks, but are they very long though?
