Signature scent

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/07/2019 16:26

So I have vowed to find a signature scent before I hit 50.

I bought Paul Smith Rose and it's nice but has no staying power.

I usually wear the Clarins red one (winter) or Estee Lauder Green Tea (summer) but again, neither of them last very well. Or Paul Smith men's striped bottle.

My favourite scent of all time is Tom Ford Tuscan Leather but I can't afford it, and it's too heavy for daytime even if I could.

I want it to be something that people can notice, without being offputtingly strong. I hate Angel and anything too sweet.

Oh and if it can be found in John Lewis, Boots or Selfridges even better. And ideally less than £60 for a bottle that will last me a fair few months!

Any ideas, please, oh wise ones?

KaliforniaDreamz · 20/07/2019 12:57

Hi Remus

Another vote for perfume parlour i have the tuscan leather dupe and it is similar.

www.violetgrey.com/product/doson/DIP-DOSON100V1

I wear ‘wood sage and sea salt’ by Jo Malone. Quite masculine and often draws compliments.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/07/2019 14:01

Thanks again all. I used to wear a Stella M one years ago. Had forgotten about it. I like the sound of the Jo M one - do they have decent staying power?

Mine is Chanel coco mademoiselle

KaliforniaDreamz · 20/07/2019 15:05

Jo Malone are mostly water and no staying power. PP do dupes that stay!

cloud1183 · 20/07/2019 16:10

I find my Jo Malones last and if you spray on clothes as well it certainly does. I love Wild Bluebell and BlackBerry and Bay

Absolutely love the Narciso Rodriguez fragrances as well. Marc Jacobs Daisy is nice and I love some of the Acqua Di Parma blu meditaranee fragrances too

Cerseilannisterinthesnow · 20/07/2019 16:35

There is also another dupe site called perfume 24, I just got Armani because it’s you and it is identical only it lasts longer!

I’ve also recently bought the perfume shops own perfumes, Citrus fresco, peppered earth and amber glow they are all beautiful and last as well. Only £19 per bottle

TeaLibrary · 20/07/2019 16:45

Nina Ricci L'Air Du Temps.

UnapologeticallyUnsociable · 20/07/2019 16:54

My daily perfume is Beauty by Calvin Klein. It's light, lasts and is currently £25 for 100ml on fragrance direct. My evening/occasion perfume is Coco Chanel Mademoiselle. £57 for 35ml but I only wear it now and again and the scent lasts until you wash it off.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/07/2019 17:14

Oh yes, I used to like Beauty too.

I really don't want a dupe. I want a real named scent.

Juliette has a gun Not a Perfume, available from selfridges is quite distinctive but not too in your face. It lasts all day on me as well.

ATowelAndAPotato · 20/07/2019 17:25

I wear Jo Malone Intense Oud & Bergamot, it is more expensive than their others but a bottle lasts me a year, and the fragrance has good staying power.
I always get compliments on it.

BoreOfWhabylon · 20/07/2019 17:34

Ô de Lancome is a fresh, citrussy, non-sweet classic.

Viviene · 20/07/2019 17:49

JHAG not a perfume does last indeed but it is very subtle and sillage is virtually zero a it is very close to skin on me.

FirenzeArno · 20/07/2019 19:30

Try Marc Jacobs Decadence. Its the only perfume I get complimented on.
Divine Decadence is also nicer if you prefer it a bit lighter.

I think Debenhams send a Try Before You Buy if you order online (used to anyway!)
Then if you don't like the sample you can return return the purchase no questions asked

I'm a JPG classic girl, like (Grin) since I was 18. I'm 42.

DottieLottie1 · 20/07/2019 20:02

Actually I'm 41BlushGrin

Sodamncaughtinthemiddle · 20/07/2019 20:03

Ahhhh came on to say Paul Smith Rose but you have tried it. It lasts for ages on me..

musicmum75 · 20/07/2019 20:16

Bottega Veneta is quite unique and not especially expensive.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/07/2019 21:37

Maybe I need to be using more of the Paul Smith - it's a huge bottle and was only £30 so I can afford to be liberal with it, whilst I'm sniffing out other ideas!

Sodamncaughtinthemiddle · 20/07/2019 22:35

I use a lot of Rose Paul Smith
People comment a lot on it. I've never had a perfume I like more.

JaceLancs · 20/07/2019 22:36

Dior addict
Guerlain insolence are my main scents

BertrandRussell · 20/07/2019 22:39

My signature is White Linen. I love it. I’ve worn it every day for 30+ years.

BillywigSting · 20/07/2019 22:42

Mine is cerutti 1881

Got a bottle for Christmas a few years ago and fell in love with it.

I'm not actually sure how much it is as it went down so well I tend to get a bottle or two every birthday /Christmas off someone. I don't think it's overly expensive though. About £50 in superdrug if I remember
