Concert etc - what to wear?

We are off to Prince next weekend, we have tix to some sort of preparty, and then there's the gig itself. WTF do I wear? I am half-tempted to wear a dress I have from Oasis, white, with some sequins, and paisley. Or maybe just a halter type top and a skirt?

I guess I need to layer, as I'm always too hot ...

Oh, duh, my fancy dress with stars? Here? I love it, am very comfortable in it. It's a bad pose, my arms aren't actually pudgy like that.

NotQuiteCockney · 30/07/2007 08:37

dress with stars! dress with stars!

NotQuiteCockney · 30/07/2007 09:30

Yeah, I can't believe I didn't think of that. It's totally fine for this. I might wear lacy tights with black shoes? Not sure. Bare legs doesn't quite look right.

Any strong opinions about tights? I think I have some ones that are a bit like fishnets, and I have black flat shoes that are v comfortable. (No, heels are not an option, I don't think. I want to be comfortable, it will be a long evening.)

you seeing Prince

He is amazing live...been many years since I have seen him

NotQuiteCockney · 02/08/2007 07:22

I haven't seen him for over 20 years! I used to be a big fan, but I'm not generally keen on giant gigs.

Me too NCQ - lost faith from diamonds and pearls on but his old stuff is still amazing...you'll have a great time

GibbonInARibbon · 02/08/2007 07:25

NQC even

NotQuiteCockney · 02/08/2007 07:27

Oh, everyone always mangles my initials. Most puzzlingly to NVQ. (Ponders changing name to NotVeryQockney ...)

I really should go back to sleep, the kids might sleep for a while longer, and I just have a nanny coming at 9:30.

oooohh yes go back to sleep and dream of this concert being as good as the Lovesexy tour

lol NVQ

SuperMonkey · 02/08/2007 07:31

Snap! I'm going too and I don't have the faintest idea what to wear - not helped by the fact that my pre-maternity party clothes fit my now ample bosom. I think I'm going jeans and sparkly vest top.

NotQuiteCockney · 02/08/2007 07:32

I don't really own "nice" jeans. Or sparkly vest tops - the star dress is my best chance I think. At least my head is recently shaved, so that's tidy.

GibbonInARibbon · 02/08/2007 07:39

The dress is lovely - I go for that

NotQuiteCockney · 02/08/2007 08:54

I'm set on the dress, just wavering about tights etc.

grey leggings? deepends on weather really.
nice dress. wish i was going to see prince, somehow failed to do antying about it.

NotQuiteCockney · 02/08/2007 09:52

I was ehming and ahing about it the night before tix were released, finding them at ludicrous prices on scalper sites ahead of time ... but I found a fancy ticket package on the ticketmaster website, that was already for sale, and at the same price as the scalpers, only guaranteed tickets and some extras. Couldn't resist.

We got the tickets less than a week before the show, I think - they really are doing their best to foil scalpers, I think.
