Need FLAT shoes to go with this dress (broken ankle)

I broke my ankle 9 weeks ago. I'm out the boot and well on the mend but still having physio and have been living in sturdy trainers. I have a wedding next weekend and there's no way I'll be able to tolerate height or wobble in my shoe. Maybe a small platform, but not a kitten heel or wedge or anything like that.
I've been putting off buying shoes in the hope that I might be back to normal, but time to get realistic! I was thinking I might go for a pop of colour, get a matching bag, but open to suggestions. Help!

FITFLOP ballerinas

SausageEggAndSpam · 12/07/2019 07:57

I'm a fan of Mary Janes. Go google some. They won't have the support of a sturdy trainer but a decent pair will be sturdier than open top shoes.

FamilyOfAliens · 12/07/2019 07:59

Could you really goth it up and wear DMs?

Mbear · 12/07/2019 07:59

I thought these looked really nice in store, but they only do black or this burgundy colour

Mint Velvet do really pretty flats with decorative straps. Have a look on ebay, I've bought a couple of pairs on there.

oohyoudevilyou · 12/07/2019 08:03

I'd go for white Converse or looky-likes. The leather ones are more supportive than canvas.

Verite1 · 12/07/2019 08:04

I think that dress would look amazing with flat slightly pointy shoes.

BigusBumus · 12/07/2019 08:04

I would wear some silver brogues with that and a bright clutch bag.

BigusBumus · 12/07/2019 08:08

Or these which are on Zalando when you type in Silver Flats. (I've got a thing about silver shoes...)

I would second Fitflop ballerinas. I broke my ankle last year and Fitflops have been my salvation.

SteelRiver · 12/07/2019 08:16

Pointed or almond toe ballerinas would look great, I reckon.

Ftumch · 12/07/2019 08:21

Boden do beautiful flat shoes, a bit pricey though.

Ftumch · 12/07/2019 08:24

Having said that, their selection isnt that inspiring at the moment! The point one are pretty. Flats

chasingseagulls · 12/07/2019 08:27

Sorry, but converse, DMs and what are essentially work shoes for awedding?! Sorry to all the helpful previous suggestions, but surely the OP can manage something a bit fancier for one day, she only needs flat shoes rather than heels.

How about:

Starrynights86 · 12/07/2019 08:27

I would just wear nice plain black ballet flats

ryanreynolds · 12/07/2019 08:28

Sidetracking...but I love the dress, where's it from @shockedballoon?!

shockedballoon · 12/07/2019 09:33

@ryanreynolds it's from the jolie moi range online at John Lewis. Total bargain as it was in the sale for £59. It has POCKETS. I quite like the idea of the fitflops, bit concerned they might look kinda frumpy- though the gold ones might work?
Also like the idea of the slightly pointy yellow boden ones - yellow would work as a contrasting colour I think? Though I'm blonde so maybe a bright blue or maybe deep pink? Or gold like the fitflops? They do look the most comfy....

The thing I found about fitflops was that they cushioned my foot post broken ankle and kept everything at the right height. My physio thought so too.

CakeInMyFace · 12/07/2019 18:46

I'm over a year post broken ankle although mine was quite severe and have had 2 surgeries. I would be careful what you wear even if only for a day. I have had alot of setbacks including tendonitis in my Achilles and there are times I can barely walk. Its really not worth it. I wouldn't wear anything that doesn't give support and nothing slip on - your ankle will still be weak. I do sympathise as shoes are my biggest issue! I'd probably wear a pair of flat black ankle boots instead!

I was going to suggest the Asos Latch point flats as well, especially if you aren't likely to wear flats much after your ankle fully heals!

ElevenOhFive · 13/07/2019 00:15

I also came on to suggest the pink Asos Latch pointed flats OP, but see @bingoitsadingo and @emmskie03 beat me to it! Lovely pop of colour and would suit the dress really well. Asos has a good selection of pointed flats which I think would be much more flattering than a round toed ballet pump.
