Why is my skin so rank?

Why did my forehead look so disgusting? I don't know if you can see in these pictures but my head is a weird colour and my pores are crazy and gross. Help me S&B, you're my only hope.

It's making me really down. I'll do anything... Mostly.

Obvious ones: do you...
Drink enough water?
Get enough sleep?
Wash face at night?
Moisturise?
Eat a balanced diet?
Drink too much alcohol?
Smoke?
Sunbathe?

Some products I have found helpful have been glycolic acid toners, exfoliators etc. Can get the Nip Tuck branded ones. Using a day moisturiser with spf and a heavier night cream. Lidl do good face creams so no need to break the bank.

If you wanted to go drastic measures you could get a chemical peel from a proper clinic. That would help the pores and fine lines massively.

Thank you for the reply! I'm really rubbish at skin care routines in general, I'll do it for a few days and then forget and never do it again.

Drink enough water? Definitely not
Get enough sleep? Probably not as i have a small baby.
Wash face at night? Only when i don't fall into bed unconscious
Moisturise? When i remember!
Eat a balanced diet? My diet is reasonable to crap.
Drink too much alcohol? I don't drink
Smoke? No
Sunbathe? No but did grow up in a hot country.

Your forehead does NOT look disgusting. That is an extreme close up and I suspect be your 'thing' that you overly focus on - we all have one.

Acid toner every other night after cleansing (with cream cleanser and a warm flannel). Hydrating serum and an SPF every day.

Retinol is an obvious step as well but the above to start is simple and would make a difference quite quickly.

The products don't need to be pricey, Nip and Fab glycolic pads are good (get the night version) and Superdrug do a dirt cheap serum (simply pure is it?) that is very good.

Have a look at Caroline Hirons' website (the cheat sheets explain what's what) and YouTube videos if you want to get your head around skincare. It really does make a difference.

If you don’t moisturise AM and PM, I’d probably start there....

EvePolastrisFace · 10/07/2019 09:50

Does anyone know what the weird brown patches are at the edges? I'll try to get a better pic.

Thank you for the advice, I'll be getting some stuff on my day off. Where do you buy nip and fab from?

Pigmentation. Very common and can be addressed. Definitely look at Caroline Hirons for advice.

I swear by my micro needle roller which I use every night followed by a retinol cream. It builds collagen and reduces fine lines and sun damage. I wear spf every day too.

EvePolastrisFace · 11/07/2019 09:43

I'm not sure if I can use retinol at the moment as I'm breastfeeding. I've ordered a load of stuff from nip and fab and will report back on my amazing face! Thanks all!

Def worse in your mind than in reality op. I know how that feels, we’re all guilty of it but honestly it’s nowhere near as bad as you’re saying

SallyWD · 11/07/2019 10:00

I think the best thing you can do for your skin is drink loads of water and eat lots of fruit and veg. I've been doing this since having cancer and I know it sounds conceited but my skin is glowing at 44! I moisturise now and then but only buy cheap moisturiser for less than a fiver. I never do it at night because I want my skin to breathe.

EvePolastrisFace · 11/07/2019 22:04

I'm so flipping bad at eating fruit and veg. I've upped my intake today and will do my best to carry on. I've had loads of water today and feel alright. Someone gave me some samples of a clinique cleanser and a toner which I'm trying. They smell nice if nothing else.

I'll be honest, I'm seeing a normal looking forehead there.

Take Caroline Hirons advice - look at it from the distance other people would look at it. Not close up peering at it in a mirror, but standing personal space distance away. Does it look so bad then?

Also have a look at some other people's foreheads. In fact, have you ever done this? Yes, that is exactly how much time people spend considering yours - zero time. Once you start looking at some other people's, I promise you, yours won't look so bad.
