Need a suit, never had to before, no money, are M&S ok?

So my job pre children was in a creative industry where it was more jeans and trainers than suits. I'm about to start a new job where I need to be smart. I don't have enough smart stuff until I start earning, so I thought the most cost effective thing would be to buy a suit for the short term. It won't matter if I'm wearing the same thing as I'll be meeting different people.

So the m&s website shows a black trouser suit for £50 - looks ok. Has anyone bought one, are they ok or any other suggestions.

Please

Go to Next - I got a gorgeous suit (full price) for £47. They've now got loads in the sale.

Also, Dorothy Perkins do good tailoring for reasonable prices.

Zara (basic brand) do nice suits - boot-leg trousers (but nice and fitted around the bum and thighs) and a very fitted one-button jacket. I have one in brown and one in black, but they do green and grey I think too. They look nice and sharp but are not more than £50 (and the jacket with jeans looks great, as does the trousers with a skinny polo neck/fitted shirt.

The one negitive is, I have super-long legs so the trousers are perfect for me, can wear with high heels and still be are long enough but some friends of mine find the trousers in Zara way too long.

I'd defn go & try things on - esp if you're not used to wearing suits - the fit needs to be good for them to look half decent!
have fun in the sales!!
