Which shoes with this dress for a wedding?

Any opinions gratefully received...I have brought this after searching everywhere to wear for my neices wedding in August. It is actually great quality and looks more pink than the photo. What colour shoes do you think I should go with?

www.dorothyperkins.com/en/dpuk/product/dresses-5699972/womens-dresses-5686813/luxe-blush-frill-bodycon-dress-8660317

I have brought a snakeskin clutch to match the belt but I feel matching shoes as well will be a bit much? Or would that be better? I'm a bit clueless!

I was thinking a dark grey or pewter colour to at least match the colours in the belt and bag. The other problem I have is that I tower above DH in heels so don't want them too high but not too low so they look frumpy..

Any ideas would be great, TIA!

Ooh you are going to be in big trouble on here for wearing such a pale coloured dress to a wedding! Personally I think bright pink shoes would be great and give a nice bit of non bridal colour to the outfit.

PinkCrayon · 05/07/2019 16:49

I thought the same as apollo said. I also agree bright coloured shoes a good idea.
But I thought it was actually white until I looked at the description.

TealGreenBalloons · 05/07/2019 16:52

Unless it looks a very different colour in real life I'd be nervous about turning up to a wedding in that Confused

Ninkaninus · 05/07/2019 17:03

Yeah...

I wouldn’t wear that to a wedding.

But if you’re determined then no, I definitely wouldn’t match belt/shoes/bag. I’d go completely different with shoes.

Lots of colours would go. Basically anything that tones in nicely with the pink, or clashes nicely.

silver1977 · 05/07/2019 18:15

It is definately pink! The photo does make it look pale but I can assure you the colour is fine for a wedding.

What bright colour would you suggest? Should I change the belt and bag to match or keep as they are?

When I originally read the 'snakeskin belt' bit in the description I thought I would probably change it to a different one I have (I have pewter or gold) but actually it looks quite nice.

Oh, I see nobody likes the dress Sad it's taken me ages loads of orders and returns to find one that ticks the boxes. As I am tall I needed something a little longer, I needed my back covered, I wanted something flattering and not too tight, everything around at the moment seems to be floral which just doesn't suit me, pale pink does.

Anyway, I just wanted a guide as to what colour shoes really! Anyone good at knowing what colours go well together? I would love bright pink shoes! Maybe I should order some to try and see.
Thanks

I really like it I just know how weird people on here can be about dresses for a wedding.

silver1977 · 05/07/2019 18:26

Apolloanddaphne Thankyou. I understand as the photo does make it look so pale, I was pleasantly surprised it was alot more pink when it arrived!

I really like the dress. Snakeskin with it also sounds nice.

Daftasever · 05/07/2019 18:31

It’s absolutely fine - a lovely dress!

Some people are ridiculous over pale coloured dresses at a wedding. FWIW, that doesn’t look remotely like a wedding dress. If someone wore that to my wedding, even without the belt, I wouldn’t bat an eyelid.

silver1977 · 05/07/2019 18:34

Thankyou. That makes me feel better! I know what my neices dress is like from her description and it is completely opposite! I just haven't been to a wedding for a while so a bit clueless on dressing up like that! I have been busy sorting out the kids outfits and left mine a bit last minute.

LOVE the dress.
Definitely wear it.
There aren't all these old fashioned colour restrictions with weddings anymore.
I'm rather tempted to have a look at that little number myself.

Hmmm. As for the shoes that is a very hard one. I normally find it quite easy but it's not coming readily to mind. Agree don't do matchy matchy. I wouldn't worry about heel height and husband. I'm a giant compared to my husband, especially in heels. Wear the shoes that look right with the dress.

When is the wedding? Might you be having a pashmina or anything too?

Any chance you might be able to take a pic of the dress say in front of a hedge or in daylight for a better colour idea so we can do better shoe colour ideas?

LittleAndOften · 05/07/2019 18:39

It's lovely, you'll look fab. I really don't get why people on here get their knickers in such a twist.

What about these? Nice chunky heel so you don't sink in the grass! www.kurtgeiger.com/women/shoes/sandals/cadey-pale-pink-synthetic-miss-kg?istCompanyId=166c308a-e1e7-4c46-9232-e2b92f576b07&istFeedId=ea033aae-0609-44ac-b740-b326f1070dfe&istItemId=wrxaxtmtt&istBid=tzxl&gclid=EAIaIQobChMInOzn46ie4wIV1JrVCh3dBg2CEAQYHSABEgLdYfD_BwE

Thankyou, your messages make me feel much better. GlamGiraffe yes try it! A bargain too! I even brought the red version in the end thinking for winter/xmas for only £15! You've made me feel ok about the heel height issue too, I've always worried about towering over him but it definately needs heels. I am only about half an inch taller than him normally, such a shame platforms for men aren't in anymore! Grin

LittleAndOften I love those shoes! Much higher than I would normally go however with a chunky heel I could walk better in them!

The belt buckle and exposed zip are silver so I was thinking of silver shoes even Hmm

Oh dear @Silver I've just accidentally bought myself that dress too with DH's credit card! We'll consider shoes now together but not the same as each other.

drowningincustard · 05/07/2019 19:11

I think that most colours will go with the dress - you can go light to match the dress or deeper shades of pink would work as well.
If you are sticking with the snakeskin belt and bag then I would avoid snakeskin shoes but that's because I actually don't like too matchy.
A nice pewter shoe/sandal is bloody difficult to find (I tried last year and any I did find seemed to look cheap rather than classy)
I think I would go a deep pink/fuschia shoe and keep the snakeskin belt and bag. I'm not a fan of hats but a few times for a wedding I've popped into a florist and bought a single flower that would go with the bright shoe. The florist can bind and wire it and then you can stick it into your hairdo or a clip in your hair.

LittleAndOften · 05/07/2019 19:13

Hurray! A shoe-win! Grin

silver1977 · 05/07/2019 19:17

drowningincustard yes I agree, I don't like too matchy, I was going by the model who is wearing snakeskin shoes but personally think they cheapen the look slightly? Why is it so hard to find pewter shoes?!

Thanks for the tip of going to a florist to match the flower, I hadn't thought of that. I did intend to get something for my hair but not a hat or fascinator.

GlamGiraffe that's great! I found the sizing to be pretty accurate. I personally feel it needs nude undies as could be a little see-through, although I was wearing black when I tried it on! Did you order the pink or the red? or both

It’s fine, if you’ve seen it and it’s definitely pink then there’s no issue with wearing it. If you love the dress then stick with it.

GlamGiraffe · 05/07/2019 20:31

Have a look on debenhams. They have a lot of shoes in their "pink" category which look more silver or gold and they have some really nuce bright pink ones by nine west.

silver1977 · 05/07/2019 20:57

GlamGiraffe Those are lovely but way too high for me unfortunately! Thanks though. I have just seen these on Debenhams..www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_63126+27891771_-1 they do them in silver too.

Ninkaninus No, no issue with the dress, just the shoes!

Thanks Pieceofpurplesky they're great but I can't get my head round those looking ok with the dress? Shame tho!
