Tubular Boob Job / Time Off Work?

Hello all,

So... I'm 20 and have tuberous breasts. They ruin my life everyday. I struggle to find clothes that look flattering as I ALWAYS have to wear a bra and I hate everything about how they look. I rarely wear bikinis and never ever wear low cut/backless which on a night out puts me in a major predicament. I have zero body confidence and won't shower with my partner or take my hands off my chest during intimate times which obviously puts a huge strain on our relationship because I will not allow him to see me naked.

Long story short, I want to get them rectified through surgery but I have a slight issue. I'm a Police Officer, time off is hard to get and I really don't want my colleagues or superiors to know what I'm doing / why I'm doing it through sheer embarrassment! Obviously recovery takes 5-6 weeks with no strenuous activity and as a front line cop... strenuous activity is almost unavoidable because I don't go a week without bundling someone Confused

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Tia.

Just wanted to say Flowers as I suffer with the same thing and it really is shite. Particularly as everyone just thinks it’s ‘small breasts’ and that you should get over it but it’s more than that!

Could you request to HR that you have unpaid leave and cite personal reasons? It sounds horrible but it is a genetic deformity so you wouldn’t be unreasonable to just tell people you are recovering from a medically necessary procedure you’d rather not discuss. Although maybe don’t get enormous implants or people might click Wink.

I really do feel your pain though so good luck!

When I had breast surgery my GP offered me a sick note with the term 'recovery from surgery' or 'recovery from chest surgery' so that no one had to know what I'd had done. Would that work?

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 05/07/2019 17:13

Im sorry you're so affected Thanks Have you talked to a surgeon? I went to four with my friend, with the same problem, and they all said surgery wouldn't fix the tubular element unless she had an oversize implant which would look very fake. I don't know if that depends on severity, though.

My sick note for work for similar surgery just said "post op recovery": I didn't tell anyone what I'd had done.
